After a clumsy attack on Team Rocket's time machine, Chief and his team were accidentally transported into the past, where Chief reigned for many years, as KING OF THE DINOSAURS! Millions of years later, his remains were discovered, and his fossils were resurrected at the Oreburgh mining museum.

Though he now lives in modern times, Chief prefers to wear his cave man gear. Its a bulky, stinky outfit that consists of a bastiodon-skin tunic, bastiodon leg armor for boots and bracers, a kabutops head breastplate, and a mamoswine's tusks and fur for a mantle.

Chief is now an avid fossil hunter, always in hopes of finding the fossils of his old team. He is aided by his gible, Sharkopath, who is extremely good at sniffing out and digging up ancient relics.
