How could we possibly know that artificial intelligence will not have emotional intelligence?

I already commented here but this is a detail I just noticed by taking a second look at it, Have you ever heard of an upcoming game called Nier Automata? this is sooooooo much like that game x3 there was a boss fight showcased in a conference that featured a giant robot maiden with many android corpses hanging from her dress, and their structure looks so much like the one you put in your drawing :'3 just a curious fun fact, if you like sad androids you should totally search for that video ;D

Sorry for my late reply! I've seen that character before somewhere, so maybe I unconsciously was thinking about her when I drew this character xD

Looks like a cool game, thanks for letting me know about it

Hhh this is a wonderful piece! And such an interesting question, especially for me who's a Computer Science student

Recently, artificial intelligence is associated with machine learning where the 'android' learns from the actions of the people they observe. Also, the image API (I forgot the name, but it was mentioned in our seminar) Google developed which allows application to detect emotions from people are now available, in which some simple robots can react or respond depending on how it recognizes your facial expressions. I think it's impossible for them to develop feelings on their own, but if there will be one or more passionate programmers who are willing to develop such, the idea of artificial emotion implementation to AI's is possible! And I do hope one day I can be a part of it! //slapsmyselfmygradesaretoolowtobequalifiedforsuchajob

Thank you!

That's really interesting, Seems like we're really living on the edge of a world filled with androids I mean we don't even fully understand our own consciousness and all that goes with it so it's really hard to tell how artificial intelligence will evolve when they start getting more advanced.

And don't be too harsh on yourself, there's much more to it than having good grades. Just be the best you can be and do what you truly enjoy doing and you'll find a way for sure.

You're very welcome

Yeah, the human concience is such a mystery. Like my professor once told us, "We know more about the moon than ourselves". And recently, our professors are being harsh at Computer Science students lately, in a good way though. They want us to make a thesis about artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR). I even argued with my friends if it's possible for us to live in a "virtual world" someday, where all of us do not need to leave our house and just merely used a VR helmet and meet up in a virtual place. I think it's possible, like people from other countries can meet and see the actual people from our country through VR with the help of a 3D Camera to make it look like we're actually meeting face-to-face and avoiding using fake profile pictures or fake 3D avatars. I find it exciting but they find it disturbing too much... As for now, our team decided to make a thesis on VR, my best friend's team on AR, and my other best friend's team on AI. We'll just do something basic, like simulating the solar system and the stars so people can feel like they're actually floating in space and viewing it. I just hope it'll turn out successful!

And thank you so much! At first I'm not really confident if I'll be good enough to be in the industry (given my experience in our internship before where we just sit all day and wait for an errand or a problem to happen ), but it's my big dream to be a part of a great invention, or even an innovation of an old thing they found useless before. And I'll really strive hard to get there, so let's work hard to make our dreams come true

Because emotions are not meant to be logical?

Anyway, I love what you did there! The robot parts on the background and the lines throughout her body indicating her to be an android too.

But you know, an android need no emotional intelligence to be "touched" by music or appreciate it. Notes and pitches could be evaluated logically and therefore appreciated in regards to one degree or another of excellence. I wouldn't be something "this made me feel in a particular way" but "this song is excellent in XYZ aspects", in which part the programming side of it could try and express it in "I really like this song"
I'm just guessing here.

I look forward for when the time of androids and robots with artificial intelligence aren't just a reality in labs or really millionaire people, but something we'd come across as regular people.

Thank you!

I agree, will be interesting to see if we figure out how to develop androids with emotions or if they start to develop it by themselves.

I've been thinking a lot recently about what it would be like to have androids around us, and have been trying to see many different sides of it and also how people will react to it. and since many, I would say most of us don't like change or are afraid of it many androids will most likely be tossed away or mistreated.

I really appreciate that you toke the time to comment, makes me really glad to hear somebody else's thoughts on this and from the sound of it, this isn't your first time thinking about this matter either.
