Description
Dang... I drew this on January eighteenth, but I have no scanner! So, I'm using Grandpa's scanner once again. The family is over here preparing for the whole "Superbowl Sunday" thing... The biggest bore I know!Anyway, it's a Cat Mer! I did him with Prismacolor pencils over the course of three days. One day to sketch and pen, and two to color. I'm pretty happy with him, but the mouth is bothering me... It doesn't line up with the cheekbones. Oh, well!

I don't like pokemons or similar stuf but this one totally kicked my ass.

It's not a Pokemon! Sure, it's a cute little cartoon critter with eyes that are too big, but I created it myself. Anyway, I'm glad it "totally kicked" your ass. Thanks for checking out my work!

Neat....The colors suit it well. I like the originality you have and didn't color him blue.

Oohh this is neat I've never heard of a Cat Mer before, so it seems pretty creative to me. I didn't notice the mouth thing until I read the description; but also the lower paw(right one, I think) looks a teensy bit odd to me. However, my cats' feet do weird things all the time, so it might just be me
Great job on the coloring and I love the transparant effect!

The lower paw looks weird? I sketched it about eighty times before just giving up and penning it. If it looks odd size-wise, it's because of the foreshortening I tried, so it was on purpose. But if it's the anatomy that's freaky, then I need to stare at a real cat paw.
Thanks for the input!

Hrm...looking at it again, I think it was the pose that struck me as a teensy bit off(or maybe just weird). Not a huge thing or anything, but just a little nitpick. I still think it's a great piece

^__^ I think this is what the commenting system is for. If something jumps out as awesome, bad, or just plain odd at first glance, then it's good to let the artist know. Like first impressions, they're very important. I enjoy hearing about the particulars which make people like or dislike my work.
And, I agree, that pose was a little weird.

that is really good. i think if u are looking for advice to improve you could maybe add a bit more shading like on the claws and perhaps on things futher away, but thats the only thingi can think of! the colours are really good and i like the background and the wings are ace! great picture!

Thank you! Okay, more shading on the claws. I've been kicking myself for a long time because I added no shading whatsoever to the strips of seaweed, but I never once thought of shading the claws.

Again, lovely composition. Though, the face does look a bit awkward, but then again who am I to judge the structure of a cat mer? Anyways, lovely colours and the translucent effect on the wings is nicely rendered

Yay! Darned face... I think I need to shy away from the "cartoonie" style on the faces to make them come out a little better.

This is such a fun, playful image!
I love the translucent effect of the wings.
I wouldn't worry about the mouth. It doesn't line up perfect, but that just adds a greater amount of feeling to the face.
Great use of color! You have a much better grasp of it than I do! The only suggestion I could make? Try adding some darker shadows. I think it would give the image more depth.
Keep up the good work! And thanks for sharing!

Darker shadows? People tell me that a lot (Sadly), but I never know WHERE. Where should I put some shadows?

You see so many warm tones in shallow waters, I think the hot colours look great! Imagine this dude floating amongst a coral reef? Like the first commenter noted, the cheekbone thing is the only real mistake I can see too, and I doubt I would have noticed it if you didn't tell me! Maybe also the outer corners of the eyes are a bit close to the roots of the ears? That could be the style though.
I like the perspective, it's challenging putting the viewer so close to the subject, but it really adds a dynamism (sp?) to the work! I'll be faving this for sure. Over the few months I've seen your art, it's really improving fast. The coil of the tail and the little baubly things are divine! Enough gushing, gotta go!

Wow! Thank you! You comment as awesomely as you paint! Yeah, I have noticed how close my characters' eyes are to their ears, but my brain doesn't function correctly yet for me to fix it. For now, it's a style! And, thanks so much for the fav! That makes me so happy.
