Description
Just a quickie of Shirinara napping in a tree. It's not very good... I was on the brink of just erasing it and drawing something else. But it was just too darned cute not to finish up, you know?Criticism discouraged, because this just isn't my best effort.
Sakura Pigma Micron, Prismacolor marker.
Shirinara and artwork (c) me, Peachfuzz .

Not your best effort? Yet it's still reeally good, and cute. Reminds me a lot of one of my scraps. I like the plain blue sky in this one, its simplicity adds to the peacefulness. (:

Thank you. I was so discouraged about it, but I feel better after putting it on DA, since people really seem to like it.

:glom- errr... Best not wake her.
This is so adorable! I am so glad that you did decide to color it and upload it!

Thanks, Marriland! No glomp for the sleeping Shirinara, but a definite glomp for you! She'd probably turn you into a carrot and eat you if you woke her. She's vegetarian, you know. Little-known fact.

Waitasec, if she turned me into a carrot and then ate me, would that be counted as herbivorous or carnivorous? Ha, well, regardless, vegetarian power!!

Herbivorous. You'd be a veggie!

How ironic, a vegetarian getting turned into a carrot and eaten by another vegetarian.
*slowly tiptoes away as not to let that happen*

D'awww! Why do I suddenly have this urge to scratch under her chin! DX
It's adorable, you worry too much it's so bright and happy and cute, and just brought a big smile to my face. Just a natural pose, and a natural environment, and nice bright colors and a simple background...
She's just a cutie, when all's said and done. Lovely job, my friend!

Bright and happy and cute? Mission accomplished! Thanks so much.

I know it's been raised before in other comments, but the pose looks awesome! She definitely looks very restful and I love the legs dangling on either side of the tree branch. Very catty and realistic. She hasn't dropped her guard too much though, because she's still got her sceptre.
I love her little squinty-closed eyes! Cute!

Sceptre! XD That's the right word for it! Staff wasn't right, and "wand" never seemed truly fitting. Sceptre, that's the one! Thanks!
And thank you for the very nice comment, as well. I tried to make her grip look a little loose, but she does seem to have a pretty good grip nonetheless.

It looks like she is having a good dream ^_^ The way her arm is up it looks like she would be moving it to rub her ear or something while sleeping.

Thank you, Kenity! I thought about making her kinda clawing the tree, how cats sometimes do when snoozing, but it just looked weird so I curled her fingers instead.

Awwwr *laughs* Wow, that's cute XD And it doesn't look that bad at all. Anatomy and everything is good (the arms aren't too long! 8D) the expression is deathly cute, the the colouring and lighting all seem to have gotten your full attention, they look great to me. Nice work... and damn, that's cute XD

Just can't seem to standardize my arm length, can I? At least I appear to have gotten over that extra-shoulder-length-on-the-distant-arm thing I used to have...
Thank you for the very nice comment! The concensus seems to be that she's cute. Mission accomplished!

Thanks. I originally did her eyes differently, more how humans look when asleep, but it was ugly. After I changed them to a more catlike shape, it because sickeningly cute!

well, i think it's adorable. The manner in wich she is lying down and the expression on her face is just so cat like. I imagine she's enjoying the sun quite a bit, and if one were to listen hard enough they just might hear her pur. I read in her character sheet that she's a bit on the moody side, so i suppose we should enjoy the peacefull side while it lasts, aye?

Oh, definitely adorable and wonderful idea! I like the blue sky...tell me, how do you get it so not streaky? I always have problems with that...how do you get it so perfectly blue?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Peachfuzz In reply to CrazySkye [2007-03-11 03:32:17 +0000 UTC]
Prisma markers are actually pretty easy to get large, non-streaky areas with, granted that your paper doesn't suck. Try circular motions when filling in big areas, though, overlapping constantly and making sure everything is fully saturated. I'm bad at explaining it...
I learned how to do this with Crayolas, in fact- It's harder than getting good coverage with Prismas, so if you figure it out with Crayolas, it'll be easier with your Prismas! You won't feel bad wasting cheap Crayola ink.

So you use swirls instead of just coloring straight, eh? I aught to try that out...>,> I shall experiment on the pic of Obsidian!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Peachfuzz In reply to CrazySkye [2007-03-11 03:40:53 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, circular motions are hugely helpful for doing smooth coloration. You know how you overlap slightly when you color in straight lines, and how it's the overlaps that show badly? Well, if you do circular motions, the overlap is completely even and doesn't show! And if it does, the patterns are irregular rather than predictable because of the circles, so it's much harder to see.
Good luck!
