Oh wow. I'd say you improved ten-fold! This painting really shows movement, so it feels like the Equus Ballator is falling more than in the original. And the horsey touches (most of the animal) are much more like a horse. This one's legs reach more for some purchase, and the night sky and mist behind it are just grand. The horse's color and markings in the black and white portion are right on. I especially like the glint of light on the hooves, and what seems to mark the place where the heart is (I think). Even the black and white seems colorful, but when we get to the animal's head, we are paid in full for our attention. I like the way it twists. Even the eye is expressive and shows well with the color chosen. Everything in the circle is bright and beautiful. I think the color you picked for the circle is good, and brings out the eye. The circle reminds me of the sun, which would add (and does add) more color. The differences between this animal and an ordinary horse are also spotlighted here, within the circle. Congrats on the DD!

There are many things I really love about this piece, but one that particularly catches my eye is the feeling of depth! The starry sky around him looks both endless and magnificent and it definitely lends to the momentum of his fall. Really stunning piece!

I wish I was one of those people who can just write a paragraph of compliments and point out every way you have improved in the past 11 years (even just in the past 1 year!!!!) but it's obvious. Everything has come such a long way. You have grown as an artist SO much. You are doing so many things here I haven't seen often from you, or not at all - I know you can do cool poses, but here you pushed yourself past cool into something so unique and extraordinary. Everything about this is so cool and amazing. I keep looking at it over and over, to find new details and things I like and where you have done something really well!! I can't wait to see where you have 10 years from now, because it'll be even better.

Thank you so, so much for this comment and for the continued encouragement as I worked on this-- it means so much to me to have someone in my corner! This is one of my favorite comments of all time-- so often I feel like there's been no progress and that I've screwed myself over because I missed 8 years of art growth for no real reason. I wish I had drawn during those dark years so I could even further, but I'm proud of this now. I'm glad you've reminded me to be proud of it.
