A pic of my new Arkham City Harley Quinn Costume which was worn at the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo.Just a bit of a teaser pic cause I'm so in love with how this costume turned out. More photos from out photoshoot to come soon and more photoshoots planned as well!
and to clarify: I made everything except the belt. The corset is real leather with 27 spring steel bones and the rest of it is real leather as well.
The Joker is my good friend Toby/ aka Sithcamero

And your costume is so well made, are you a professional seamstress by any chance?
I believe corsets are the hardest thing to make, either it be in making the pattern or in sewing. I made two for class so far and it was a nightmare(i dont have much experience yet so...
The only detail, i believe your should have worked more on would be the eyes: i'd make them a bit darker, used more eyeliner. Other than that, you look just like her! Congratulations, a job well done!

I will add more black for the next photoshoot. It looked darker in person and I was afraid of having raccoon eyes, but looking at the photos it could have used more. I guess she does have raccoon eyes really...but its kind of unflattering in real life...

Thanks! I think its the gritty, tough, more real world feel that makes it go well, but I wish I had a good Arkham style Joker to take some photos with >.< Toby won't do it. sadness

I've yet to see anyone cosplay Arkham Asylum Joker, which makes me rather sad. I guess he is a little more difficult to pull off...

Thanks! It really wasn't the leather that was uncomfortable, more just the steel boning in the corset and the giant platform shoes.

aaah k, yeah yeah, I can see how those things would be uncomfortable, at first I wasn't sure what steel boning was but now I gets it x.x; eek.

It wasn't actually that bad since most of the leather was taken from trench coats at good will. However, I doubt I'd ever get so lucky again as to find that perfect red. Material costs were probably around 160$ not including the 100+ hours of labor of course.

Clever way to recycle! I had an extremely lucky find with a leather duster myself recently, got it for 50 cents at swap meet 'cause of a 3 inch tear near the bottom front. I was able to patch it myself and now wear it as my main coat. Love that thing...
At any rate, very impressive! I'll have to bear that method in mine when I need leather...

oh yes! It saved me a bundle! I can't really claim it as my idea, a girl in my design class in school was using recycled leather for her collection, which gave me the idea to start trolling the good wills for costume supplies! As long as the coats have large sections that are usable, its great. A little leather conditioner and a wipe down and their good as new cows
