Description I've studied value and tone from photo reference. Paint from blank canvas till finished about 1.10 hour according to the recorded video. (no tracing and colour picking from the photo) I definitely need to practice more!
I also made extremely shorten wip version from it. You can download here (1.36 mb)
The size of full length and high quality video is quite big (3.9GB) I'll try to find the way to reduce the size if anyone is interested in downloading it.

Credit : Original photo that I used as a reference from amazing photographer Marcus Ranum Thank you very much for such a great collection for references!!

Just over an hour? Color me amazed, that's pretty nifty. Is this Photoshop? Or Painter? Or something else I'm not aware of?

You have given me some new faith in digital painting. I so often think "They color picked/traced" but after seeing what you did... I need to try this out for sure!

Wow, one of these days i'll be able to do something as wonderful as this... One of these days...

Curiously, how do you paint the shadows and highlights within the base line colour shape? I find whenever i do a lineless piece i have to go around the edges again to try and smooth it out and even that still makes it look kind of jagged.

I don't know how this artist does it, but I paint in photoshop and turn the base paint into a layer mask. That allows you to paint outside the lines, as it were, but only the color within the layer mask show up.

just put the video in camtasia, and then choose the mp4 720p, it will reduce the size of the video a lot
