Description

With the Genesee River swelled by the melting snow.

There is a large, flat, open area, 127 steps down from the rim, presumably river bed at some point. It's another fifty step down to the footbridge across to the east side. This is from the top of the second set of steps. The lower section is still closed off, as is the trail down from the east side of the gorge.

My wife and I drove down to Letchworth State Park last Monday. She sat in the car and read while I did some walking by the lower falls.

The best place to photograph the lower falls would be from down in the river bed, which is off-limits here for good and proper safety reasons. But I do have some ideas for next time I'm there.
