New Moon in da house! (Ladies... )
Jojo's new stallion Moon On A String is nearly dancing with excitement as he explores his new domain. Seeing how he's being intended for sports, the boy might lose those curly locks for the benefit of a neater 'do...
Proof that I still prefer to draw lineart traditional. It just feels easier and looks better.
//edit: I noticed I had done Moon's hind leg markings the wrong way--I had to depend on my cell phone screen for the ref and, well, now I fixed it and also... pretty much finished this baby! Woo!

Personality
One thing is sure: this is not your backyard pony. This is The Prince, filled to brim with energy and testosterone. Keep an eye on him, he looks like he has a ton of tricks in him just waiting to get out when you turn your back for a minute...
His energy is very near endless it seems. He's always up for more speed, more excitement, and his dynamite levels make for challenges in his training. We're keeping our hopes up that a playmate and a couple of years will give him more maturity and patience. Flatwork is a real challenge with him, he needs to be "driven" every second because the moment your mind wanders, he finds something to do, and the something could be anything from chewing on the bit to downright spooking. On the plus side when he gets to go he's nigh unstoppable, and all the spookiness is gone. We're thinking about eventing and endurance racing.
Moon is impossible to keep in secret, because he likes to let everyone within a few mile's radius to know he's here and he has business with the ladies. This earned him the nickname of Foghorn within 72 hours of his purchase. Luckily enough his neigh is more pleasant to hear than not.
In hand Moon's energy and tendency to find "things to do" when not directly occupied is somewhat troublesome. Everything is good as long as he stays in the "chillax place" but once he smells one bit of action keeping him still is a job. Sadly clippers are one of the things that make him immediately wary of every little rustle. When clippers are on, everything could eat lil' horses. And even under the unlikely circumstance that he should keep calm, he's still constantly checking you're not ruining his 'do. Prepare for a lot of wiggling and a lot of guyliner head in your arms.
At this point we're comfortable to say that Moon and Jojo have formed a good relationship, and with him Moon has the decency to not act out. Too much, anyways. There's still things to smooth up, but we're confident enough to start attending some basic classes.
A word of warning though... Moon is very capable of being a naughty silly boy with new people that don't have that immediately respect commanding air. Remember the anti-rear bit.
Jungian personality type: Extroverted Sensing Feeling Perceiving: ESFP - "Entertainer". Radiates attractive warmth and optimism. Smooth, witty, charming, clever. Fun to be with. Very generous.

So, since I am your beloved affiliate, and since there are some open spots, do you think that I could get a breeding slot?
You can give me details as to payment, and we can negotiate from there.

Absolutely, sweetie! Do you have a specific mare in mind? The breeding rules and the info about the normal breeding fee is here: [link] Be sure to note me with your offer if you want to peruse your affy status a bit ;3

I'd love to have a black foal with none/only little out of him (preferably out of a starter mare), so I'd need either a black or non-agouti carrier chestnut mare to get one My stable is filled with bays and white-gened horses xD

Darn, I could have helped you to a starter mare slot but turns out she's homozygous to agouti and champagne AND homozygous for silver and dun 8D
Anyways if you should find a nice mare I'll be glad to provide a lil' Moon lovin' for her ^.^

Well my finger slipped and I just bought a chestnut mare... but she's an agouti carrier, but I actually got a slot with a friends mare She carries overo but maybe I'll be lucky and get at least one geno without white/only one white gene
So what would you want for a breeding slot? Aaahh excited about the foal now

As for the stud fee... throw art at me 8D My breeding rules ([link] ) specify the following: one breeding pic, one training pic of Mr Moon, one slot to the future baby.
As for a nSpl x nO pairing and hoping for solid... You'll have a 44% chance of getting a nn/nn geno BUT the nice thing is... Spl and FrO are both known for the tendency to be very minimal at times... "Solid Frame Overos" do exist... "Solid Splashed Whites" do exist (just look at Icelandics)... even if the 12,5% chance of both genos being nSpl nO becomes reality you could dance off with a solid-looking foal

kalmanen In reply to Peccantis [2013-04-28 21:45:28 +0000 UTC]
Alright, I'll finish them ASAP I did glance at your rules but since people sometimes have something different figured out than their rules/general info says xD
Yeah I know, but the % chance doesn't really work on Nordanners, since two genos are given out, and the second one is dependent on the first; you can't get two exact same genos after all (unless you breed like ee aa x ee aa) I am lucky as far as it comes to the choice of white, I have designed one minimalistic Tobiano and rather not ever do that one again - I'm most familiar with splash, overos edginess (same with sabino) always throws me off.
Solid overo is better known as a hidden overo, where it only shows up as minimalistic to no white combined to blue eye[s], same with splashed whites (minimal/none markings, only blue eye[s]), but I'll try to worry over these things whenever I get to the point I have send in the breeding note I just have so much white in my stable... I need more solid horses that aren't bay
Anyhow, thank you for the opportunity and I'll note you when everything is set up

Oh they do that? Iiinnnteresting twist in my probability calculations.
I'm not entirely sure about the mare's genotype but assuming EE aa nSpl x EE aa nO the probablilities for a single geno are:
* 25% nn/nn
* 50% nn/nSpl OR nO/nn
* 25% nO/nSpl
and for the next geno three possible options remain, with 33% chance each.
Which would mean the assumed pairing would have, in total, a 50% chance of producing one solid genotype, a 33% chance of being offered nn nO but no solid, and a 17% chance of getting a choice between nSpl nO or nSpl nn.

kalmanen In reply to Peccantis [2013-04-29 16:08:55 +0000 UTC]
Everything is RNG'd, so everything is up to chance. That's why the percentages only apply to the first geno, because the second geno is dependent what the first geno is. The mare is ee aa nO, since she's a chestnut, not a black. The base geno will always be Ee aa, because he's EE and she's ee Foal options are:
Ee aa nn (nn)
Ee aa nSpl (nn)
Ee aa (nn) nO
Ee aa nSpl nO
Everything has a 25% chance on the first round (1/4 for each geno), and it warps the second geno, because it can't be the same; so it's impossible to say what your geno will be for certain (except in clear cut cases, like one of my recent foals was EE aa LpLp x EE aa nD, there can only be EE aa nD nLp and EE aa nLp).
The less genes, the more likely things will become so "genobomb" foals are those who have most random results: it's totally up to the RNG if it rolls genes in or out. Sometimes it rolls a lot of in (like I bought a geno that end up being my filly Nix, her first geno was seal bay tobiano snowflake, the second geno was about as long as my arm), sometimes it rolls a lot out

Peccantis In reply to kalmanen [2013-04-29 16:52:20 +0000 UTC]
Actually calculating percentages is fully possible, if a bit more complicated than without the "cannot have two identical genos if non-identical results are possible" clause. (And frightfully complicated if there are more genes to calculate... But the more genes are involved in the calculations, the less likely it becones that two rolls for the geno will yield the same results, and the less it will hurt the accuracy of the calculations to flat out ignore the "no two identical genos if possible" rule.)
And take the clause into account is exactly what I did the last time around, dearie. Although I'll admit I didn't as much calculate as write each possible result down and count it from there.
4 different (and percentage-wise equally likely at 25%) results for the first geno, then each case has 3 different (equally likely at 33 %) results (because the fourth, i.e. the same the first result was) will be eliminated.
I wrote the cases down and counted that in 6/12 cases, a solid genotype will be offered. The rest are a variety of nSpl nn, nn nO and nSpl nO.

kalmanen In reply to Peccantis [2013-04-29 18:09:56 +0000 UTC]
Of course you can count the percentages, but my point is that having the first geno warp the second one makes it slightly harder and the more genes involved, the more possibilities there are Of course the more genes, the smaller the chance of identical result will be, as you said - but here we have only two variables (since Ee aa is "set in stone).
Sorry if I was unclear or sounded condescending, math definitely is not my thing and talking about in english makes it even harder xD That def. was not my intention
My Fox is a good example of a genobomb and how random it is what you eventually get:
sire: ee aa nD ChCh nZ nR nT nSb nLp
dam: Ee Ata ChCh nLp nG (patn1snow)
Only things certain is _e _a ChCh (+nLp 50% chance on the first geno), leaving 11 variables and she end up getting five of them (Ee aa nD ChCh nZ nT nSb nLp). I don't know what her other geno was, but I think it shows pretty well how you may end with a lot, as most likely will in a case with so many variables, but even so her chosen geno has gotten 6 that didn't roll after all.

But hey! nn/nn or nO/nSpl, there's no way you can't have a solid foal out of those two 8D Which was my point before the lure of probablilty calculus got me XD

You're kidding, THAT 748?? I was seriously considering her! With Moon, and Summer, and Grell, we obviously have incredibly lot in common 8D
And a Laced stallion?? Here's one jealous Pecc for you! I wanted a Laced mare for quite a while... now I'm beginning to think of a Fawn but they're hopelessly rare. Luckily not insanely popular so a slot might not be very expensive, but... *sigh*
