It's fascinating that the majority of responses to this image state perceptions of negativity in regards to the model's expression. I havn't the slightest doubt that this is because it's a young female with short hair, and these answers are based mostly on subconsciously embedded gender stereotyping. As for me, I see defiance. And a beautiful girl made no less beautiful because of it.

I agree some people's perceptions could lead to negative interpretations due to stereotypes or what a society may consider as the norm. Her hair style mixed with age and gender definitely makes a difference. However, I think the general mood and expression are quick to point to negative emotions.
Personally, I love the range of emotions I can draw from a single moment, and find others' interpretations very interesting.
Also from going through all the responses I feel a great number which fall in the negative category are in sympathy or support of her, rather than simply labeling her.
