Liquid acrylic inks (metallic) on pastel board (you may remember this is one of my favorite surfaces to work on...the effects are amazing.)
So, how is life....I am feeling pretty great right now...nothing to do with the holidays. Just happy. And looking forward to spring.

Looks to me very much like a womb, though strangely resembling amoeba... in any case... prospective, and yearning for a bright morning

Never would of guessed it was on pastel board. Do you paint on canvas too? i tried chipboard once, primed it and everything. My tutor was not impressed what is your take on chipboard is it a hit or a miss?

I have not tried chip board. Looks like you would have to really prime it to get it ready. It is amazing the difference in texture you can get from the different boards...and the way the paint "behaves" changes as well. I do use canvas...whole different look there. I have also used canvas with pastes, which adds to the variations...especially when varnishes.

yeah you do have to apply a couple of coats it was a thing i went through last year on my course. Generally it was less hassle because canvases take a couple of days to make when you have to share a workshop with over a hundred students! At the moment i don't really paint that much with textures anymore. i am trying to find my rhythm in painting still don't think i have mastered it fully and so i want to try oil paint now- always used acrylic in the past.

I am not crazy about oils and have no desire to try it again anytime soon. I like acrylic and liquid acrylic inks the most. And watercolor.

A couple of my friends have told me to try it because the effects are much sharper. I Think it really does depend on the artist, the only think i guess i might find annoying is the drying times. Acrylic it dries instantly and i paint rather quickly, so i guess that is only my dilemma. i have not tried liquid acrylic inks before, if you do not mind i think i might try that also. Thanks this has helped. x

One of my friends who loves oil and tries to get me to switch suggested a drying medium to use with it...I cannot remember the brand he mentioned right now.
Yeah, go for the inks...I think what makes it easy is that the paint is so liquid. I always varnish at the end, though. Even if the paint is light fast, you get a rich finish and it looks nicer. It really pumps up the colors and textures, too.
