This day, I probably saw some of the biggest waves ever in my life! I can't tell how high they were because I was at a higher spot. But you can see how big the forming waves were just from the photo. In this shot, the boat was still far away trying to get to the seaport.Porto da Nazaré . Portugal

I'd crop out some of the bottom but keep some of the rich white foam to maintain the sense of floating for the boat.

Hm. It has a sense of compression that comes with telephoto lens'. And the 1.5 multiplier on your DSLR made this like 400mm. That's why I mentioned about the bottom crop, I think. It'd open the image up and make the compression less noticeable.
I enjoyed your gallery. I'm at the newspaper office now, so I might browse it some more.

Uma foto fantástica num momento de grande tensão por parte de quem estava no barco, suponho.
Gosto bastante da forma como a onda quase faz desaparecer o barco, no nosso ângulo de visão e das texturas que se formam á volta da onda.
As gaivotas são tb um ponto forte na foto, transmitindo como que o guiar ao porto de abrigo.

grande captura, alem da situação em si de o barco simplesmente desaparecer por detras da onda, as gaivotas, quase que as podemos comparar a abutres esperando que algo corresse mal.

costumo andar por aquelas bandas e nunca vi tais ondas por ali... fiquei mesmo impressionado. Assim n é de admirar q as vezes haja alguns acidentes
