Description
I've had Disgaea listed as my favorite game since forever, so it's about time I had some Disgaea fanart here. These are the Mage and Skull from "Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories", by Nippon Ichi Software (NIS). Original character design by Takehito Harada. This picture changed while I was drawing it, to the point that nobody could tell what was going on anymore. Oh well, cute makes right and content is irrelevant. Just look at Strawberry Marshmallow.Related content

So cute!
I think that a blue skull and mage would like the winter better.

You know Flame Skull and Fire are around the corner...just biding thier time......tis a very cute pic though
Wouldnt Yukimaru turn up and put them all to shame with that replacement move that instantly makes a snowman?

Why does this not have a hundred times as many favourites as it does?!

You are right. I don't know how many other people came to the same conclusion. They don't know what it is. I originally planned to have the snowman be a trap, with Yukimaru attacking from behind while the wizards were fascinated by the snowman. But I didn't have enough time before the submission deadline to add a third character.

Congratulations, out of all the winners of that contest, yours was the only one that actually showed a lot of effort. Seriously... I don't know what it is with NISA and picking crappier artwork over better artwork. Gah... I mean, losing to your picture... no problem, it was awesome. The other three though... I'll give the first it was a good concept, but the two after you were lame. :/ You're the only one who even did a background out of them!
Very cute picture though.

Thanks for the compliment. It makes me feel better, although I think the one that won deserved it. As with movies, story and concept count more than special effects.
As for the other runners-up, I think your Akutare picture was better than the Pleinair one. The Etna one, despite being plain, showed a lot of technical skill - the artist of that one could outdraw me if he put as much time into his piece as I put into mine.
Did you find this piece before the contest results, or after?

Aw thanks. Yeah... I think the Etna guy had a lot of skill, I just come from an art forum where you lose so many points for "character floating in space." XP So I'm biased. I would vote another entry I saw with a lovely Laharl Flonne scene higher for that reason. Setting adds so much to mood.
After... a friend actually found it when I showed the winners to him and said how much I liked the Wizards of Winter. D: I had tried searching for NISA contest entries, but I have no luck with DA and its searches. I can't even find the newest N1 related art because the newest button is a ruse! I keep getting random dates.

Have you been to the Deviant Art page of the lady who won? Her winning piece is actually BELOW AVERAGE for the stuff she does. She won the contest easily, and she wasn't even using the full extent of her skill. She's amazing. I'm shocked!

That's kind of sad then. Well, meh, I still think her picture looked kind of lazy in draftsmanship and wasn't impressed by it. I likely would have been if she had actually put her full effort into it. I don't really appreciate it when people don't give things their all.

Thank you. Compliments are more significant when they come from someone as skilled as you. Happy holidays to you too.

Very nice picture. I like it.
Was the title inspired by that Trans-Siberian Orchestra song?

If you're thinking of the song that this guy made a video of where the lights of his house were choreographed to the song, then yes. Didn't know who made the song.
You have a nice gallery by the way. You're really strong with the pencil.

Yes, actually, that would be the song. After seeing the video last year I had to find out who made the song it went to, hehe.
