True enough, the sound of her light footsteps approached.

The aura of calmness around her, her elegant march…it unnerved him…to the point that he wanted to strangle her until he could feel her bones break under his fingers...

“Ohayo, Kurogane-san. I hope that you’ve finally decided to join my side.”

“In all my life, I have pledged to no one. I’d rather die than becoming your lapdog.”
She released a short laugh, enough to confuse him “If you die now, how will you come and try to kill me once more?” She mused at his previous failed attempt to kill her. This man had more pride than the man who paid him to kill her.

“Is that your way of thinking about allegiance?”
“You can call it mutual gain… I recognize your strength and I want it on my side…… and you get another chance at me.”

“You’ll regret offering me this chance later on……When I’ll become strong, I’ll slay you down. I never fail in my mission.”
The pay didn’t matter anymore. Slaying her would make him the greatest ninja of Japan.
“I expect nothing less from you, Kurogane-san.” she smiled.
Little did he know that it was the start of a new journey, one that didn’t involved shameless killing for a few golden coins and nightmares that surrounded a certain village…

He would find purpose.
