A photo from a Japanese antiques store.This is a doll of Norakuro (Blackie the Stray), star of the first Japanase cartoon in 1928.
If you'll notice, he has a little medal. Norakuro was a mascot of the Japanese Imperial Army. So in a way, the first anime was military propaganda!
