Description Bomberman rocks. I've been working on this for two days. I did the model my self in Milkshape. I ripped the textures from Bomberman 64: The Second Attack. Great game, you should play it.

I was just testing out some poses and such. I dont have a practical method of submitting an animation yet. DA doesnt accept AVI's. Though I did make some.

I'm actually planning to use this in a game. The models actually suck up a lot of resources, so I'll probably only use models for main objects, everything else sprites. Like Sonic Rush.

This was surprisingly easy to do. Modeling, that is.
I'll probably release an updated model viewer, like I did with the sword. But theres been problems with how its rendering animations... So I'll have to hold off on that.

Hmm... He came out a little taller than I would have hoped. I was going for a combination of Generation and Second Attack. The new styled Bomberman sucks. Oh well, I like this model. I could always shorten him if I feel the need.

You should try and see if you can get this to work in the source engine with Garry's Mod.

I don't have access to that. But if you do, be my guest and try it yourself.

I still have the model on my PC. If you are interested, I could upload/send it to you to play with.

You could send it to someone who can convert the model, and hex it to work in Garry's mod.

Yeah, I just don't really have the time for all that, personally. Tis why I only pop onto DeviantART like once a week.

You can't. But if you tell me what you want it for, I'll personally send you the files.

Do you use Blender?

No, Milkshape. Couldn't get Blender to work for the life of me.

this is really good and bomberman is awsome ^_^ I like to character model too the rigging and weight painting is a pain in the ass though ¬_¬

have you ever heard of a program called Maya? I use that I and I reccommend it if you havent used it but i costs alot and I mean something like £2000 - £5000 for the newest one ^^

I prefer to make environments in Maya though like this one on the [link] took me ages and Im still making it now ^_^

Wow you are really good!

I tried maya and 3d Studio Max once. In two or three days, I still coulndt find out how to place a single vertex or cube or plane. It didnt make any sense. Things were just thrown at you.

To me, the programs gave off a really "professional" look. The kind of program where its not a very good one to start learning in, and you have to sort of already know your way around to produce anything.

Milkshape (the program I use) is easy. There is button to place verticies, and then a button to connect them. Its really low level and precise. I like it.

I'm also not serious enough about modeling to feel the need to buy the Maya. Not yet at least. Milkshape has done me good so far. Seeing as I built this bomberman in maybe 3 days (my first model) and I couldnt make a single thing in 30 days for 3Dmax or Maya or Wings3D.

But yes, Milkshape is a character modeler specifically. So I might look into something else for environments.

If you are interested and havent seen it, I made a model of me and my friends original character here: [link]

I'd appreciate some professional opinions!

Thanks for the tips and info. For me art has mostly just been a hobby. And I always feel more inspired when someone tells me to pursue it further. You know? Anyway thanks.

Heh, thanks. I've since then added more faces and better textures. But I'm trying to prioritize, and this model isnt going anywhere for a long time, so I've been taking time to to other stuff.

Sadly Bomberman 64 was one game I never could have added to y collection. But I have played it tho. To bad Hudson screwed up the series by turning them into 5 feet tall robots.

Yeah, that game (if you are talking about the 360 one) flopped. Thankfully.

I never did get to play Bomberman 64 for very long. I own the Second Attack, and Bomberman Hero though. I only got to the second level or so in the first 64 game.

The first one is definatly harder, while the second one is more so fun and entertaining. Bomberman 64: The second attack was under rated. Its probably the best in the series.

Aww. I agree, his N64 incantations look best, although I'm still not a fan of the game due to that seven-year-old.

You rock all digital art forms.

Yes. Yes I do. Seven year olds make good medicine balls.

You'll have to borrow these games. And get a hold of an N64. Definately worth it. Only queers dont like bomberman.

Oh my god, we found the N64 today. We thought it was in Mexico, but it turned out to be hidden in a box under Laisa's mom's bed. Thus, borrow me Conker's Bad Fur Day and Hey You! Pikachu ASAP, or I'll fucking kill you.

PencilGoblin In reply to pojomo [2006-09-24 03:26:52 +0000 UTC]

Hahahahahahahahahaha, no!

But seriously, yeah. I could do that. But you must be educated properly. You have to play some of the other gold titles of the N64. Majora's Mask (and its prequel, Ocarina of Time). Bomberman 64: Second attack. Hmmm... have you played Banjo Kazooie? Its great.

It has the same humor and greatness of Conker, but just no cursing and boobies. But yes, its great.

pojomo In reply to PencilGoblin [2006-09-24 03:32:34 +0000 UTC]

I have both Zelda titles, but just for the GC. The only difference I'm aware of is the ugly radioactive green blood. My brother has Banjo Kazooie, but he doesn't share. Bomberman...hmm...no. I still hate Scott's little brother THAT much.

So, when are you going to "educate" me?

PencilGoblin In reply to pojomo [2006-09-24 03:40:33 +0000 UTC]

Right now. With my fist. PLAY BOMBERMAN.

pojomo In reply to PencilGoblin [2006-09-24 03:48:10 +0000 UTC]

NEVER. My computer has already proved once it doesn't like N64 emulators, so I'd need to borrow it.

Therefore, when's the drop-off? I might be able to stop by tomorrow, after going to the hospital, is that alright?

The prospect of making polygon models like you'd see on N64 is simply genius. These are awesome, I can't wait to see more.

PencilGoblin In reply to BewareTheJim [2006-09-24 03:11:00 +0000 UTC]

Yes. I love low polygon models. There's just something appealing about the pure sharpeness of it all.

I'm having technical issues with it all though...

I dont know how far I'm going to go with all this 3D modeling stuff. Its distracting me from my other interest.

BewareTheJim In reply to PencilGoblin [2006-09-24 03:20:38 +0000 UTC]

Hey, you might find a way to crank 'em out nice and easy. Play around with the program much?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PencilGoblin In reply to BewareTheJim [2006-09-24 03:34:19 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes, I'm getting much more efficient really quick like.

But I want to use this model in my model viewer application. But the models dont seem to want to render correctly when outside of Milkshape... And theres not much I can do about that, because someone else wrote the program to render them in my application.

I think I'm going to finish up Bomberman's animations, for practice, in the mean time. So far I've got idling and running. But they're in AVI files, so I dont think I can upload those onto DA. Thats why I want to get the model viewer working, so I dont have to. That way you can view the models from all angles.

BewareTheJim In reply to PencilGoblin [2006-09-24 04:56:21 +0000 UTC]

I know AVI can be converted to Flash, if that helps...
Except I have no idea how.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PencilGoblin In reply to BewareTheJim [2006-09-24 04:59:13 +0000 UTC]

Hmm.. I see. It wouldnt be worth it anyway. Its not like these 3D animations are full feature films. Its just a walk cycle, really.
