I loved that Loki was trying not to laugh during the scene when Thor talks about it

I'm really not sure what I was the most amused over with this scene. Loki's adorable smirk at being reminded of it or the fact that Thor loves snakes. For some reason I never pictured Thor as a snake lover. haha!

CaptainElsa In reply to WindChimeGhost [2017-11-13 17:34:32 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I agree on the snake part. there's a giant serpent that's a part of Ragnarok in Norse Mythology... forget the name at the moment :/

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

WindChimeGhost In reply to CaptainElsa [2017-11-13 19:16:54 +0000 UTC]

Jormungandr, Jormungand, or the Midgard Serpent. It makes appearances in Marvel comics sometimes and even in the Marvel animated series, but it isn’t always connected with Ragnarok in every continuity. And it isn’t always a snake per se. In most of the Marvel continuities I'm familiar with, it’s more like a huge sea dragon. So I really don’t count it as a true snake. In one of the episodes of the animated series, Dr. Doom gains control of it and unleashes it on earth, and Thor and Loki team up to fight it together along with some of the other Avengers (no Ragnarok connected).

But, yeah, I’ve always seen Loki as the one who loves snakes. I’m pretty sure he does, but it still seemed odd hearing Thor admit to liking them. haha!

CaptainElsa In reply to WindChimeGhost [2017-11-13 19:21:06 +0000 UTC]

yeah that's what I was thinking of! excuse my brain fart there. I was also thinking of Slepinir, but that's Odin's 8-legged horse.Β

In the mythology I thought the Midgard Serpent swallowed the sun or some kind of realm and that was an event of Ragnarok. Of course the comics are different :/Β

WindChimeGhost In reply to CaptainElsa [2017-11-13 19:36:09 +0000 UTC]

Haha, no worries. It happens. Since I'm a huge mythology fanatic, I know the name of the serpent well, but I can never remember how to spell it. So I always end up calling it Midgard Serpent.

Yeah. Actually, it annoys me when people mix actual mythology with the comics. Marvel’s version is a completely different world. Always has been, although it does have its moments of going a long with the actual mythology.Β Again, it just depends on which continuity/series it is.Β But there are still notable differences that sets the two apart, which is to be expected since Marvel based their version on mythology. I personally prefer the version that doesn’t really follow mythology. But that’s just me. I like that Marvel has taken it, put their own imagination to work, and done their own thing with it. It's different and refreshing rather than being the same as the mythology. Plus it makes for fun writing when it comes to fanfics. Like Loki being greatly annoyed and offended that earth mythology says he gave birth to Sleipnir. I always have fun with that when I'm writing Loki. haha! (I really need to draw some fanart of it sometime...)

CaptainElsa In reply to WindChimeGhost [2017-11-13 20:21:02 +0000 UTC]

True. I see where you're coming from. Yeah Mythology can sometimes get really weird. As in, Loki giving birth to a horse. haha. I can see why he wouldn't like it. Awkward... It would be like having an elephant in the room but… it's a horse… lol

I kind of think it's cool when they have some things that are from Mythology, but yeah not everything. My sister doesn't understand how Asgard works. Neither do I. but it looked Hela awesome in IMAX (haha get it?) Though it was cool when Hela said "where do you think they got all this gold?"

I was going to look up if (um, spoiler) you know who actually lost his eye in the comics -cough. My sister thinks he shouldn't get his eye back, but idk… I think he should. Somehow. Idk how it would work with Infinity War? *scratches my head*

WindChimeGhost In reply to CaptainElsa [2017-11-13 22:24:15 +0000 UTC]

lol! Knowing MCU Loki's personality, I can easily see him getting insulted by a lot of earth mythology. Although he might actually be amused by some of it, though. But I like to think of him getting insulted and embarrassed by the horse part.

I don't really know what you mean by how Asgard works, but I usually think of it as being a planet the same as earth. All of the realms are technically planets/worlds.

I'm not sure about that, either, to be honest. I haven't explored every part of the comics yet. But from what I know and what I have explored, I really don't think that happened in the comics. I could be wrong, though. I haven't read the three comics Ragnarok's story is based on yet (planning to). But I haven't seen any evidence of that particular detail in the comic fandom. So it might just be MCU canon. Some things in the movies are different since it's a continuity all its own. I do know for a fact that a certain place coming to earth after Ragnarok is indeed comic canon in some series.

CaptainElsa In reply to WindChimeGhost [2017-11-13 23:32:39 +0000 UTC]

Asgard is kind of like this big floating island when you zoom out far enough. (I kind of honestly think that's how Care-a-lot works too haha) um, let's just say magic? Or Yggradsil, the world tree holds it or something like that.

I did think it was a funny part in the movie when Loki was in the treasury putting the crown back that he stopped and looked at the Tesseract and really wanted it. Hela said it wasn't bad or something like that when she saw it.Β

I read an article that said Thor is keeping his patch in Infinity War.Β www.popsugar.com/entertainment…
So in the comics he takes out his own eyes (ouch) to get more power... I'm gonna miss his other eye though in the movies. I wonder if Loki will make fun of him in Infinity War for it, I mean, he didn't really at the end of Ragnarok. But who knows?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

WindChimeGhost In reply to CaptainElsa [2017-11-13 23:54:11 +0000 UTC]

Ahhh, okay. Yeah, the World Tree has something to do with that. Hahahahaha!! Care-A-Lot might just be an unknown realm. Who knows?

*cough* I think he did a little bit more than simply wanting it. *cough* >_> Since it's an Infinity Stone, it'll be in the next movie regardless of what happens. So I think he might have pocketed it...

Knowing that bit of info now, let's hope he doesn't take out the other one himself. O-o I don't think Loki will make fun of him. I think he has a little more manners than that. He might be mischievous, but he isn't a bully. But, then again, one never knows with Loki. But he did seem respectful of it at the end of the movie.
