Well, see, Hibiki comes from a culture that vilified women, and as such, was extremely uncomfortable about dealing with them, at first. Over time, he becomes part of the crew.
As for Tenchi, would you want to be surrounded by insane alien women fighting each other for your affections? And more often than not, blowing stuff up in the process? I sure wouldn't.
