Description
Burning skies over Central Germany. The best sunset this year.
Definitely.
(Nothing, absolutely nothing tweaked on this picture.
And it was even more awsome in reality...)

Would have liked it more maybe if you let a bit more light in so the land wasn't so black but still stunning colours

Okay, I agree. Will try to do it next time.
Fortunately now, about three years later - I live right next to the spot I shot this picture. Right then I was only passing through.
So I suppose I just might get another go.

Try just using the flash, that often evens the photo out by itself

Thank you.
It's about half as good on foto as it was in reality. *g*
Awsome - and dead-silent, out there on that hill.

You can tell... its almost mystical and slightly creepy - its beautiful.
You jsut don't get scenes like that over here - its such a shame.

Oh you get them there too.
I did a similar shot near Manchester some years ago.
The trick is, I think, to get a nice industrial area between you and the setting sun.
In this case, it's Frankfurt. *g*
The right weather and temperature and a bit of luck.
As Neil Gaiman once wrote: Ah, yes. Environmental pollution - it does wonders to your sunsets.
Honestly - I don't know if it's something to do with pollution (it isn't particularly bad around Franfurt) - but that's just how it is.

I haven't got a clue - the only scientific bit I know is its to do with the angle of the suns rays...
Oh well
I'll just have to keep on the look out - I live pretty close to Manchester so I'll have to wait and see what nature gives me =]
