Description
This is a doodle I've made a while ago and forgot to upload it. It is based on Laura Ford's sculpture "Bone and Rag with Blanket". The sculpture can be found in Stockholm, on the street next to Rosenbad (Prime Minister's office and the Government Chancellery in Sweden). It is in fact part of Ford's "Bone and Rag" group of sculptures; she has based them on animal characters from Beatrix Potter's stories, but all of them also represent the homeless, the ones striving for survival on the very bottom of society. This particular sculpture was later bought and placed in the centre of Stockholm.

I don't know if you can get the impression from the photos, but it's really incredibly sad. There's something to this little sculpture that makes your heart ache. Like someone took your gentlest childhood memories and placed them out in the cold, with no food or shelter or someone to spare a kind word. I'm generally sensitive about homelessness, and in my one and only visit to Stockholm some time ago, this sculpture has really made an impact (combined with the actual homeless people begging on the streets). Later, as I couldn't stop thinking about it, I made this drawing based on my memory and impressions. So, it's not really an exact representation, it's an interpretation.
Now that I have remembered it (and finally uploaded it), I think I might make some more drawings based on this.
