Why are you climbing, winged one?
-I wish to reach the skies;
the path is set,
the stairs lead the way,
and I have to follow carefully.

Why are you climbing, winged one?
-I wish to look at the earth from above,
to understand where I came from.
I wish to find what my heart is longing for,
my heart that is calling me to the vast sky.

Why are you climbing, winged one?
-That is the only way I know.

A quick pencil drawing. I had this image of a winged creature climbing the some mossy stairs for a long time. When I first drew it, it didn't even strike me as odd, until my boyfriend asked why is it climbing when it has wings to fly.
Maybe we are all sometimes unaware of our own abilities... or afraid of them.
