PN GP9RM 7010 leads the Souderton excursion back to Lansdale with SD40-2W 5342 outside camera view on the back of the train. This Geep was built in May 1959 by General Motors of Canada (Another subsidiary of EMD) in Ontario Canada as GP9 4327 for Canadian National. It was rebuilt into a GP9RM in 1985 for better crew visibility and comfort giving it a long nose. This unit served on commuter trains and eventually was delegated as a switcher engine. The engine impressively remained in service with CN until retirement in 2011. The unit was purchased by PN and was sent to New Hope for repaint into a custom PN livery. GP = General Purpose which states this engine can be used for any job. 9 = series number. RM = Re manufacture. You may of noticed the odd headlight color. Sometime in recent years the incandescent lights were replaced with high power LEDs kind of like the ones on the ACS-64s although with bigger diodes and being on full brightness hence the lack of a strobe like effect you'd find when filming an ACS-64 (due to the shutter speed and light beam being out of sync) The ditch lights however are still the stock incandescent bulbs. I honestly have no idea why 7010 got LED headlights on both ends. Maybe the originals were stolen or smashed? or they quit working entirely? Who knows. This gives the engine a unique look and an interesting lighting effect when I change shutter speeds on my Canon.
