RBMN's North Reading Fast Freight (NRFF) enters Nesquehoning jct on the newly constructed bypass bridge. Back in the day NRFF had to go to Jim Thorpe and run around outside Packerton yard which took quite some time, now thanks to the new bridge put into service a few years ago they can just round the corner and keep going toward Pittston. This also turned Nesquehoning jct into a wye as a bonus so fall foliage excursions can turn around much easier. Powering NRFF today is 3 SD40-2s all Ex UPs. 3057 was built in January 1975 as Chicago & Northwestern 6901, after Union Pacific absorbed the CNW it became UP 3066. UP retired it around 2009 and it came to the RBMN. The 2nd unit RBMN 3054 was built in September 1974 also for the CNW as CNW 6867. When UP got it the unit became UP 3032. RBMN acquired it after its retirement where it became RBMN 3054. Bringing up the rear is 3052. Unlike the 2 up front 3052 was built in April 1980 as Missouri Pacific 6072. When MP got absorbed by UP it became UP 3972 and then got sold to the RBMN as RBMN 3052. Related content
