Description Anna White and PLS Bare Necessities
Constellation Concours stop 3 - Croatia
Place: 5th

I was dancing in the rain
I felt alive and I can’t complain
But take me home
Take me home where I belong
I can’t take it anymore

Anna and Cian had hardly had a civil conversation in over a week. Every time they tried to talk to each other it quickly escalated into a yelling match which was mentally draining for both of them, but with Cian coming along to the third stop of the tour they were going to be forced into speaking to each other.
They landed in Krka, Croatia hoping for a good weekend in the sun, but instead they were welcomed by seemingly never ending grey skies and rain. Had they known what the weekend had in store for them, they may have taken this as a warning.
They arrived at the yard they we’re staying at and met Anna’s friends. Dany, who had been in the tour since the beginning, and Arwyn, who was joining the dressage part of the tour.
As the night went on, Anna and Cian headed back to their hotel room, which was the first time in a week that they’d had the chance to try and talk things over. The majority of their arguments stemmed from plans with the stables and some of Anna’s horses who Cian could only see as a waste of money.
Anna and Cian had both been long term liveries at Pennylane Stables, the previous owner being like family to them. Once the owner came to the point where his age and health meant that owning a large stable was no longer viable, he offered the property to Anna and Cian who were honoured to be trusted to own it. After years of putting in the work, they had increased the size of their property and easily doubled the amount of horses and liveries they had on site.
What started as a conversation to smooth everything over quickly became a night of tears and Cian changing his flight ticket to leave early. As Anna sat alone in her bed that night, she couldn’t help but become overwhelmed with her thoughts. She had always loved Cian, since the day she met him. Her relationship with him had changed greatly over the years, from friends, business partners and now romantic, but yet she still found herself wishing she could go back and avoid the situation they had found themselves in. She kept going over everything that had happened in Estonia and the beginning of the tour with Avery. As fast as she began to think about her, she couldn’t get Avery out of her mind for the rest of the night, she had consumed every inch of her thoughts and Anna found herself wishing that she could see her friend in this moment. She began to reach for her phone to call Avery when something stopped her. Guilt. She should be wanting to talk to Cian, fix things, tell him she misses him and wanted him to be there, but truthfully? She couldn’t. She felt surprised that it had taken her this long to realise, it wasn’t Cian, it never was. He seemed like the easy, safe option. But since the night Avery confessed her feelings for her, she couldn’t get it out of her mind. And now, she couldn’t help but think that she’d burned that bridge down past the point of fixing.

At some point amongst the endless overthinking, Anna had managed to fall asleep. She woke up the next morning to the weather being an accurate description of how she felt, and headed to see Baloo. As she was grooming her stallion, Arwyn passed by their stable,
“You okay?” she asked as she slowed down, seeing the conflicted expression on her friends face.
“As hard and as shit it’ll be, I think it’s Avery you want to be with. Maybe breaking up with Cian and being honest with Avery will be the best thing to do.. I never really liked him anyway,” she smirked as Anna let out a short laugh.
Anna and Baloo had a long time to sit before their round, out of the now 43 show jumping riders, she was the 40th to ride the course. At least it meant she would definitely know the course by then and have a quiet warm up arena.
