In the spirit of giving I decided to give Gaara a new friend.I've been meaning to draw this piece since they first showed the Hippopotas episode on Cartoon Network...Pokémon is still a guilty pleasure for me.
I see it this way: Somewhere, around a corner or looking through a window Kankurou & Temari are having a conversation.
Kankurou: I told you he'd like it.
Temari: When I first saw that dopey looking thing, I never would have believed it would make Gaara so happy.
Kankurou: When you find the perfect pet... er, um, pokémon the rest just seems to follow.
Temari: Oh look. They're playing catch with sand...
As usual I make my traditional comment about hands...every time I draw them there's always something that seems just a little off about them. Maybe I write this so you'll miss all the other flaws...
Drawn & Inked with reference. Colored with copics and retouched/color rebalanced digitally.(My scanner really washes things out...but I'm gettting better at outwitting it.)

Lol Indeed, Hippopotas leveled up to Hippowdon, Sandshrew, Cubone and Zigzagoon are other pokemon good for Gaara.

Sometimes, I wish I had more time to research the Pokemon to do them justice...
but unfortunately I think this was a one time thing.

A boy and his...sand hippo. XD It's strangely fitting since its second form is one of the scariest Pokemon, I feel..being vicious and ornery like real world hippos. o-o
