Evangelion is amazing! And this is one of the most shocking scenes, it will always be inside my mind.
BTW, thanks to this scene that I got addicted in this anime
On TV or manga, you can only see Shinji's point of view. That's why I decided to make this drawing, based on Toji's hopelessness. Imagine yourself in front of the death! I think that it shouldn't be easy... So, I tried to represent the whole fear he could felt in that moment.
Toji is my favourite male character in this series, and his death was one of the most sad things ever! my favourite female character is Makinami Mari Illustrious, but she only appears in the second movie
Luckily, in the second movie, You can (not) advance, he didn't die!!!! \o/
It makes me so happy!!!

Though he'd more likely have been dead by now considering how much the Angel screwed up Unit 03's biology or would've been killed instantly at multiple points like when Unit 01 crushed Unit 03's skull with a punch or when it strangled Unit 03 and broke it's neck.

I like Eva Unit 03 (just so evil and dark) to start, its the most bad-ass Eva, and this angle of its destruction is amazing.

I have a couple problems but nothing too serious.
First is that the entry plug probably doesn't look like that. While you couldargue that Toji's entry plug is different since we've never gotten a good look inside, it's still kinda grating.
Second is that I wish you'd shown the Angel.Toji wasn't just being attacked by Eva 01; he was attacked by an Angel. Eva 01 was attacking the Angel. The Angel caused Eva 03 to go rogue. The Angel was a big part of the scene and I feel to exclude it takes away. Not to mention the portrayal of the infection could be that touch that makes a picture go from good to great.
Third is that you blurred out Eva 01. Every time I see your image, I feel the need to check my eyesight. And I just don't understand why. You drew a perfectly good Eva 01, the colors are excellently done (though I wish they were darker with some orange and red tones added), and you blurred it. Choose carefully next time you decide to blur.
Overall excelently done picture. Toji looks just like Toji and his expression is fantastic. I can easily see his confusion, fear, and despair. The blood is well done and the cracks on the outside of the entry plug help to add a sense of suspension and foreboding. Definitely faving.

First of all, I'd like to say that I really enjoyed your oppinion about my drawing. It's hard to see someone interested in writing such considerations just like yours, and I want to thank you for it. But I need to explain somethings about this image.
1: I agree with you when you say that the entry plug probably doesn't look like that. But my intention in this case wasn't to recriate the whole scenary just like the original. My intention here was to represent two outstanding moments, according to my point of view: The uncontrolled Eva 01 on berserk mode and the fear on Toji's eyes (even if at this moment he was unconscious or asleep)
2: Once again, I agree with you when you say Toji wasn't just being attacked by Eva 01; he was attacked by an Angel. As I told before, that's a different point of view that I decided to creat about that specific scene.
3: I put some blur effect on Eva 01 to creat some glass effect and, at the same time, cause the feeling of distance from each other. My idea was to represent two moments in two different ways: The attack by Eva 01 on berserk mode and Toji's despairs. That's why Eva 01 needed to be blurred.
So, thank you once again for the comment and for the compliments. And I hope you understand my point of view.

Anyways, I read an English fanfic years ago about Toji's perspective on the whole attack, and that he was being tempted by the Angel even as Unit-01 was attacking, being convinced of the idea that he was not worth saving and should not try to save humans.

i remember this part. This is where toji pretty much got devaward by his eva and shiji had to stop him. that was a messed up scene and one of the goriest ones too. this is an awesome picture! i love your perspective!

no me gusta mucho deste. Já que é uma cena que ocorre meio que um segundo antes dele morrer, acho tinha como deixar ela ainda mais ameaçadora. Talvez com o angulo mais de baixo. Ou então ele na cabine e a 'camera' do lado de fora, refletindo a mão do 01.

Na verdade, eu quis mostrar 2 momentos em uma mesma cena. É como se a parte de baixo do desenho (onde está o piloto) fosse uma cena, e a parte do Eva seria a cena seguinte.
Mas entendi o que você quis dizer com o comentário. O lance é que eu realmente tinha planejado ele dessa forma. Mas valeu pelas dicas de ângulos, quem sabe num próximo eu faça isso que você disse.
