GodessFae In reply to Shogunay [2013-08-12 22:10:04 +0000 UTC]

If you read yuumei's artist comments, she states that this one was on DA a good 2 years before hers, and that she hadn't seen this one until she uploaded hers, so the similarities are coincidental.

It's just a coincidence. Yuumei didn't steal--She had no clue it existed!
Much like the art of Harry Clarke and Aubrey Beardsley. Similar looks, but it's only a coincidence.

I don't think Yuumei stole her idea I think she just used the same concept. Even so both works look very different.

Excellent concept. However I've seen no evidence that supports the claim that we are causing this. Looks like mother nature all on her own. We better start building some boats.

BobbinaSu In reply to Badmunky64 [2012-10-28 00:10:45 +0000 UTC]

How is it being caused by Mother Nature? Does Mother Nature chop down trees, pour clear entire miles of forest, fill our atmosphere with practically poison, and cause icecaps to melt at alarming rates? How do you NOT see any evidence of this?

Badmunky64 In reply to BobbinaSu [2012-10-28 04:36:07 +0000 UTC]

This is a natural part of the cycle of earth. At worse we're speeding it up a little.

BobbinaSu In reply to Badmunky64 [2012-10-30 00:21:51 +0000 UTC]

Animals going extinct is a natural part of earth. Yes. Shifting climates, earthquakes, meteors, ice ages, meltdowns, these are all part of Earth. They've been going of for over 6 billion years. Yet in the tiny, infinitesimal sliver of time us humans have lived, we've sped up the process by thousands of years. Now, we are in crisis, with lack of fossil fuels, fertile soil, and other resources. We've caused probably as much extinctions as massive climate changes or meteors, annually, the processes used to power or "civilized" society cost the lives of billions of animals, directly and indirectly. We were supposed to be a small race. Perhaps living for a few thousand years. But we became pervasive. We spread out from the cradle of Africa, growing physically weaker yet finding new tools to help us as we invaded through the 6 continents, growing to have 7 billion people. Humans do not have sharp claws or fangs, no wings or fins, no echolocation or sensing electromagnetic fields, no 65 mile-per-hour acceleration or brute strength, no shell or exoskeleton. We should have gone extinct a long time ago. But we didn't. And instead, we, one of the weakest animal races on the planet, now become one of the most populous mammals. We outsmarted mother nature and left the entire system. Massive climate change takes millions of years. However, we've managed to raise global temperatures by large amounts in a century or two after the invention of the car, and the advent of green-house gasses. Wind and water erode and weather away rocks over millions of years, but we do it in weeks or days. The cycle of life is intricate and beautiful. Species thrive, then die, and make way for the new. Their bodies fertilize the ground for plants, and the old make way for the new. The Reptiles' age died with the dinosaurs, giving way to the mammals. We've broken this system. Animals go extinct to fast for natural selection to make it's effect. If you really think that humans aren't doing anything, then no offense, but you must be either ignorant, or desperately trying to justify our actions. Take a step outside. Enjoy the beautiful crimson sunset, and know that pollution creates it. Take a drive around the neighborhood and know that you are emitting green-house gasses into our atmosphere and killing polar bears, penguins, seals, and more. Look at the stars at night, and know how much clearer they looked a thousand years ago, when smog and light pollution didn't plague our skies. Look into the air and know that it was once filled with so many passenger pigeons, the sun could be blocked out, before they were overhunted to extinction. Look at your house, and know that there used to be trees, hills, or grass, whole ecosystems, destroyed for the cost of a garage, or a "beautiful" backyard. Look everywhere and you'll see the signs. While polar ice-caps are one of the places getting hit the hardest, know the cost of our "civilized," "successful," world is also hitting closer to home. Boats would be useless. We'd need spaceships to escape the demise of our planet, and soon we'd be an invasive alien species, crossing galaxies, and enslaving their life forms to fuel our greed, that is, if we can make it. Call me cynical, but even if I have exaggerated, it's true. Humanity is the bane of nature. Acknowledge it. So long as humans exist, environmentalists, activists, their efforts are mostly in vain. We may postpone our doom for a few years, but so long as we aren't naked cavemen running through forest and hiding in mountain rocks, we're destroying Mother Earth bit by bit. (Not that recycling, reducing, and working to save the environment is bad, or pointless, it's just not going to save anything.) So go outside and enjoy the sunset. Be that little kid that smashed through the tower of building blocks, smile, feel a sense of gratification, as you look at the rubble around you and say, "what a job well done," or that kid who looks at his cookie crumbs and regrets that he had eaten it so fast, without savoring its taste. Look at the beautiful sunset, enjoy it as the last flaming colors burn out, the sliver of golden sunlight slides on that far horizon, and be grateful that at least, as life winks out of existence, that at least the view's pretty.
