Maned Wolf(Chrysocyon brachyurus):

The maned wolf is immediately distinguishable by its long, thin legs, long, reddish-orange fur, and
large ears . It inhabits grasslands, cerrado forest, wet fields, and scrub forests of central South America from the mouth of the Parnaiba River in northeastern Brazil, south through the Chaco of Paraguay to 30 degrees South in northern Argentina, and west to the Pampas del Heath in Peru. With their solitary habits and relatively large home ranges, maned wolves live at low densities throughout their range. Dietz (1984) found that home ranges of pairs in Serra da Canastra NationalPark varied between 21.7 and 30.0 square km, but elsewhere ranges are larger (up to 105 square km).

Native folklore and superstitions contribute to the attitudes of local people to maned wolves (which range from tolerance to fear and dislike), yet, although it is one of the largest carnivores in the grasslands, the species is apparently not well known to a large segment of the population. About 50% of their diet is plant material, and they rarely prey on domestic animals.The most significant threat to maned wolf populations is the drastic reduction of habitat, especially due to conversion to agricultural and pastureland. The cerrado has been reduced to about 20% of its preserved original area, and only 1.5% of it is currently protected .Road kills on highways are also responsible for mortality of approximately half of the annual production of pups in some reserves .

The Red-Crested Cardinal(Paroaria coronata):

The Red-crested Cardinal is a common suboscine inhabiting south temperate forests and semi-open areas with scattered trees and shrubs of South America. Males and females have identical plumage, and juveniles have brownish-orange coloration instead of red and white. Nest initiation has a peak in November with a mean clutch size of 3 eggs.Hybridization between Yellow-billed Cardinal (Paroaria capitata) and Red-crested Cardinal can happen sometimes.
Even though they are not considered threatened by extinction , the cardinal is the most trafficked bird in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil(Nascimento & Alves 2007).And one of the most demanded as bird pet in Argentina.
They eat small arthropods,fruit and seeds generally searched for on the ground in pairs or small groups. Average lifespan is about 3.8 years.

Aproximately 19 cm in lenght and 37 g in weight.
