Description

More 1:12 koi ponds, metal tubs, and barrels. Fish made from polymer clay and the water is resin.

These took soooooo long. I probably put in a solid 14 hours on these between part of Tuesday night and all of Wednesday. Everything smells like resin in my craft room so I've had to vacate while the smell clears. But they're finished and completely dried and ready for the show (well, minus the ponds which still need some stones around the edges)! And I love how they turned out, especially the small ones.

Thank you! They're not for sale online yet as they're coming with me to a miniature show this weekend. Once the show is over I'll put any I have leftover in my Etsy shop.

Thanks! I really like how the metal tubs turned out. I think I'll have to make one for myself.

Put a lil' shark in it!

If I could figure out how to make sharks, that would be really neat. Or turtles. My husband wants a pond with a frog as well. I just need to learn to sculpt animals. >.<

Would be an awesome way to expand your ability ^^ you have food down pretty well (I know you have little things you want to improve on) but to the public I bet people would love to see animals/fish/etc

I think fish would probably be where I stop. I still want to make the little fish tanks. I also want to try miniature flowers, but that's a whooooole other craft to learn. lol

If I could ask a few more questions :]

If there are any left over, how much would they be?Β

Could I request one/put it on hold or at least be told when they're on sale so I can purchase one?

These really remind me of Riusuke Fukahori's work, which I absolutely adore and would love to own one but their size and price obviously make it a little impossible. Also, I absolutely positively and passionately adore and love miniature things, so this is so wonderfully perfect and tickles my fancy so much that I just… want. So bad. >___<

Sorry for being vociferous, but these really really really are so amazing >_______< I may try my hand at it myself to make one if I cannot buy one.Β

PepperTreeArt In reply to Ariel523 [2014-02-13 20:34:40 +0000 UTC]

The barrels are $22, the metal tubs are $35. The smallest pond is $40, the next size up is $50, and the larges with the three fish is $75. I can't put any aside since these are part of my stock for the show. I will post a journal up once I get set to open my shop again.

Ariel523 In reply to PepperTreeArt [2014-02-13 22:43:07 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. :] I wouldn't want to request/put aside a specific one, but just one in general. I wouldn't be picky in being able to have one of those amazing pieces! But I'll definitely keep an eye out for your journal update.

Just an advice as a chemist; try working in a vented room if you can when using products that smell/have to be heated

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

PepperTreeArt In reply to kurocleoO777 [2014-02-13 17:03:15 +0000 UTC]

I keep the window in my room cracked and wear a mask when I do work with resin/strong glue. I guess the smell lingers because I had about 25 pieces out and drying at once. I'd love to let them cure outside but I live on a first floor apartment with a lot of foot traffic by my porch. I'd be worried someone would take one (which could happen, as there are a lot of kids that go by after school lets out).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

kurocleoO777 In reply to PepperTreeArt [2014-02-13 19:26:05 +0000 UTC]

I see. Indeed it would not be good to leave them outside. But at least you wear a mask and open your window, that is reassuring.

I really like your work, but I would not want anyone to get sick because of the products used :c

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

PepperTreeArt In reply to kurocleoO777 [2014-02-13 20:15:41 +0000 UTC]

The mask is pretty much a must have. Resin fumes trigger migraines for me, which is something I learned the hard way last time I made ponds. Think I'll have to invest in a better mask, though, since I can still get a decent whiff of the resin from time to time.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

kurocleoO777 In reply to PepperTreeArt [2014-02-13 23:06:09 +0000 UTC]

D: try getting the list of components in the resin you use, check for infos on them to see if there's anything very dangerous and what are the security advices on it.

What kind of resin do you use exactly?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

PepperTreeArt In reply to kurocleoO777 [2014-02-14 05:26:33 +0000 UTC]

I don't think it's anything too dangerous since it's the resin they sell at Michaels. I think it's called Castin Craft resin.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

kurocleoO777 In reply to PepperTreeArt [2014-02-14 07:18:13 +0000 UTC]

Alright; I did some research and basically it can generate stuff like esters or alcohol (if that is the good resin I found xD). But just the caution inscription on the picture of the bottle I found is quite making it very clear that there is some bad shit in it.

You'd need to work with your window wide open, possibly with some wind or a device to vent the vapors away from you. A mask is a good thing, but I also suggest gloves and safety googles, unless you already use those

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

PepperTreeArt In reply to kurocleoO777 [2014-02-14 13:57:33 +0000 UTC]

I don't think resin is ever not going to have bad crap in it. lol

I don't have gloves, but the window is open and I have the ceiling fan going at full blast. Since I'm working with larger amounts of resin more frequently now, I'll go invest in some gloves and a better mask I think. It never bothered me before but I was making really tiny batches of resin for 1:12 cups (which take 2-3 drops of resin each to fill).

Thank you for the advice! I really appreciate it.
