I think the main thing about the contrast is everything's fairly desaturated, so nothing really pops out. Maybe push the saturation a little the figures, 'cause right now that light blue background tends to get the most of my attention first, I think.
Still looking rock solid with lineart and design, so lovely, and the colors are nice though things are a bit run together at the moment.

I would either make the brown background darker, or the blue-black darker. Whichever looks better to you.
