I honestly enjoy how different the guard's and Taka's attitude is. Sure, doing a thankless job is hard and sometimes some validation is great, but Taka seems to take it way too personally and blow things out of proportion, he's valid to be hurt and bitter but he seems to see everything others do around him as intentionally malicious towards him, as opposed to the guard's more positive outlook, like they just shrug it off and don't let it get to them. I think the previous scene where Taka got all the thanks and they were just fine with it and played it for a laugh showcases it the best.
I don't think Taka is completely in the wrong, he does feel hurt and that's valid, but he seems to go way too overboard with this to the point that valid complaints start to become self-pity and whining.

It seems deep down, under all that broody angst that a lot of this would have been mitigated by thanks from his family. Sure, it's nice to get it from the people he helped but getting it from your friends, parents and relatives feels way more real and solid. No one seems to ask what the guard did that day, were there any injuries, what herds did they speak with, engaging questions that validate and make their job feel worth it instead of just a hard slog.

Thank you Upepo! I’m glad someone has the guts to call Taka out for his constant whining and complaining. I mean Taka has the honor of being leader of the guard and he does help a lot of animals out, but even when Mufasa gets the slightest bit of attention, Taka has to throw a hissy fit over it like a little kid who was told no by his mom. I can understand jealousy and insecurities, but this has been going on for way too long and he just needs to get over himself. I know that he won’t since he eventually becomes Scar, kills his guard, loses the roar and the events of the movie will unfold, but either way, no one likes a sour puss (no pun intended)

It’s sad that even though Upepo is telling him off. He’s still smiling and treating him like A friend, it seems like in his eyes Taka can do no wrong. It makes me sad I think he’s going to be so loyal to him until Taka uses the roar to destroy him
