Description
Dotmatrix (with five dots across the brow, female) + Sandy (ginger, male). Three/four weeks.Two of the many that were birthed and abandoned by their stray-cat-mum on our roof.

8 of their siblings are still here, all 15/16 years old; but these two are gone.

heehee ... you know then, the allusion to Braille? The system of raised dots in a system of rectangular array of rows and columns, created in the 19th century, so that the blind can read. My first contact with it was after my high school, when I did some volunteer work at the society for the blind. I guess it must have made quite an impression on my young mind, for it to surface when we were searching for names for our cats!!

Yes, that's the same dotmatrix.
Matrix has several meanings. One of these is the womb; the place in which a thing is developed; the formative part of animal organ. That is the one alluded to in the movie-trilogy MATRIX. Matrix is also the mould in which a printer's types or gramophone records, etc., are cast or shaped. Matrix is also a mass of rocks etc enclosing gems. In Biology, it is the substance between cells. In Math, a matrix is a rectangular array of quantities in rows and columns that is treated as a single quantity... so a dotmatrix is a rectangular array of dots in row and columns. Braille uses that idea by making raised dots to help the blind read.
