Description
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST CLUE? (The Origins of Dawn Meadows)
Dawnβs polished finger traced over the bumpy spines of the periodicals, as her eyes squinted to read the small text. Standing up on the tips of her toes, her feet popped out of the back of her dress flats as she struggled to reach a particularly high shelved volume. No good. She would have to climb in order to reach it. Tiny grunts escaped her lips as she opened and closed her fingers like a tiny claw machine, desperate to win a desired toy. She felt her face getting red from exertion. Finally she closed her grasp on the book and gave it a tug. Out it came, but it was heavier than she anticipated. She instinctively reached with her other hand to help catch the book, dropping her phone in the process. It clattered to the ground, strobing the light as poor Dawn felt the heavy book conk her on the head before it plopped to the floor, followed by the clumsy teen...

I love how she's been knocked out twice before the real peril even began. Lol.

LOL, I wondered if I might get called out on that. This poor girl, and the peril as you said... is just getting started.

Why did she climb a precarious stack of books when there was a chair right next to her?

Now Dawn wasn't always the girl to make the most savvy of choices

Yes, it was quite a heavy book in such a difficult place to reach!

Like a line from the musical "Into the Woods" - "Near may be better than far but it still isn't there." She was so close. This is another very nice series of pictures, and the story has some great descriptions of Dawn. My favorite was "her feet popped out of her dress flats." I have actually seen women in pantyhose and flats do exactly that as they reached for something. Thankfully, they didn't fall, but there was always the hope that they would lose their shoes by reaching too far.Β
