Description
The latest MH trio (Venus, Robecca & Rochelle) have become my favorites. They have such lovely face sculpts!I was not planning on having Venus but she's really lovely in person. I'm looking forward to future iterations of her since she's got some unique and interesting qualities about her doll. Whatever they used for the shaved part of her hair is also a huge improvement from what was used on Clawd. I hope they keep using the same technique for future dolls with similar hair styles.

She is beautiful. I wish I could afford her myself. I've noticed the factory faceups on Venus usually either have eyelashes missing or one eye is lower then the other, so this is such a HUGE improvement.
Did you give her extra teeth?

Yeah, I've been noticing that about all recently released dolls lately. I love Rochelle so much but the two that I managed to get a hold of both had offset eyes. This Venus had the wall eyed look and some missing paint on one of her eyes.
I gave her the same exact number of teeth, just made them smaller. That was a problem on the original too. The teeth were huge and too close together they didn't look like teeth but factory errors.

I was planning to buy Rochelle myself (since I love her to death) along with Robecca or Jackson, but I was planning to order from Amazon, which means I won't be able to pick out one with good make-up. Default venus mmakes me think of first wave Cleo with her wall-eyed...ness. >_>;
I have a question about blushing. I have a Clawdeen I was planning to make white, how many layers of white pastel or foundation would it take to cover her face? Also, I plan on customizing a Ghoulia and her head needs to be flesh-tones. Would I put a layer or two of white underneath before applying flesh tones?

Yeah, I pretty much order online too. It's always a gamble with the factory makeup because I can't get any of the dolls locally.
As for the blushing, I'm not really sure how to give you advice on that except to look into color theory. I'd recommend reading up on these:
Color Matching (Pullip) - [link]
Color mixing theory (oil pastels) - [link] - I know this applies to oil pastels. It's difficult to find something for soft pastels but same concept applies.
Sorry to be so vague. I might try writing a tutorial for body blushing in the future but I do a lot of it instinctively so it's very difficult to explain. I also haven't found a method or body blush look that I've been happy with that I've tried personally.
Clawdeen's skin is going to look blotched up if you attempt to lighten it up. The blush just wouldn't evenly coat her skin. The best candidate for pale/light skin tone is Draculaura.
Ghoulia might be easy to convert into flesh tone since she has grey skin ([link] ) but just be very careful not to overdo/over blush. I've seen a lot that could almost pass but it really depends on what you're using. If you know the properties of the medium you're using well enough, you can make it work for you.

Yeah, after my crappy Spectra I'm really wary of online ordering now, at least with Amazon. I got Operetta from TRU.com and she's lovely.
Maybe I can just paint the Clawdeen and water down my paints. I plan to make her into a doll for my best friend (Don't tell Wendy on the Adult MH group) annd Clawdeen is about the best to use. I already repainted my Werewolf CAM head. I still want to try the Tester's trick you did though.
Dracularua can at least be made to look white, couldn't she?
A tutorial on body blushing would be wonderful, especially since I want to use it not so much bodies as for heads. I can understand how difficult it might be to explain. It's like trying to explain art techniques in general.
I guess for Ghoulia I can try foundation of pastels. My Nu Pastels are pretty crumbly and there is a flesh tone in there along with a white and a couple of shades of pink.
