Description
The world sees the smile I show,
Hiding the frown beneath.
Let them think I’m happy.
Saves me from answering questions.
They mind their business,
If they see that nothing is wrong.
I don’t have the time or patience to explain.
Few people out there would understand
Even if they say they do.
So I save myself the trouble.
Why needlessly add more grief
To my troubled three
And everything they affect.
It’ll all get to be too much someday
If I keep adding without taking away.
There are few I trust to understand
Even fewer I trust to help.
Only those that have experienced
Are capable of guiding
Some may claim to have the experience
Just look into their eyes, their soul
See the pain they too try to hide
Listen to, and hear, their words and voice
Conviction is conveyed through the words.
The voice is laden with pain and emptiness
From deep within the soul
At the seeming hopelessness of their situation.
Body language of one of us
Tells more than words from an outsider.
We are the only ones that can tell.
A sort of bond between us
We are resigned to a fate we can’t change
Once we cross the line of clarity-
Whose position is unclear-
No matter how hard we try,
There is no going back.
On the outside, the reformation to smiles
Is a possibility, not impossible to achieve.
But the inside, while brought into perspective
Is a mess.
Pity on those around if we lose control.
The outsiders don’t stand a chance.
So my perpetual smile is for their benefit.
