Description
Taken in Darling Harbour, Sydney. The light hit the buildings just perfectly. Now this one had to be in colour, black and white just wouldn't have been right.

This photo is so damn beautiful that I swear the colors have been retouched. BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER, because its a great image. I can't view the image in its entirity on my laptop, (I lose about 15% - 20% of the image and I'm forced to scroll). But its definately a nice mixture. It has me constantly flipping back and forth saying "The sky is georgeous, but the unfinished building detail is cool... wait, the sky is cooler... wait, not its not."
I have no choice but to sit back and absorb the whole thing and just be happy.
I really like the composition. Normally, I'm not a big fan of everything being centered, but this pulls it off extremely well. The massive sky is definately is definately one of the key components that makes the whole thing work.

i love how it looks it color..but you sure about not in b/w...maybe if the scrapers were more of a shilluette??? anyways nice work there is a very nice transtion from the sky to the building makes it known that these are two very different elements... towards the bottom of the buildings it gets a bit busy thoug

Heh, I noticed how busy it is down the bottom too. But I tried cropping it - it looks better like this. The balance isn't quite right if I take that little bit off the bottom. So I decided to leave it. What really pisses me off about this shot is that I didn't get it exactly straight! It's slightly crooked It annoys me whenever I look at it.

I like how half of the photo is buildings and the other half shows off the beauty of the clouds.

The sky makes the picture definetly, and the color makes the sky so you were right in keeping this one color ^__^

I love the almost painted-on effect of the sky, it's a cool contrast between the City, yet not too much of a contrast to make it stick out

Oh yes. The colors in this are just amazing - black and white would've been a mistake, I agree! Really beautiful... and I rarely say that about cityscapes (I'm more of a nature gal myself). Really quite nice.

aww... the picture changes from the stern strict structures through the buildings and climb from the warm colours into the cool and the organic compositions of the clouds in the sky
very pretty

Oh yes, I agree, black and white would have been a waste. Nice colors, even the copper-ish of the buildings. I especially like the vertical angle of the shot, it exentuates (sp?) the feeling of cramped space in the city. Good work.

Impressive shot, the building and the sky work well together, overall though, the graininess of the photo lets it down a bit, I'm not sure whether it's to do with the compression the camera uses (if any was used) or if it's the CCD... it's a good thing the subject of the photo is interesting to look at.

Wow! Not much to say here... Your composition is a very interesting one. The sky is very much an attention grabber and it demands the amount of space you gave it! The uneaven height of the buildings is also a good thing because the tallest building really leads your eyes up to the sky. I wonder what was in the foreground? Was it water? A field? more city? If the foreground was some uninteresting thing, then what you did is just right. However, if it is a waterfront or something (Can't say as I've never been to Australia), then I might try putting some of that water in to add interest. I think you have alot of potential with this picture idea from other locations within the city. Nice subtle border. I think you did quite well overall!

Its commericialism gives it a rougher look but that only increases the factor of how sweet this is.

o_o That's gorgeous. Love the colours, love the clouds. We had some like that today, but I didn't have my camera on me, and besides. Teachers don't like artistic interruptions
Very nice framing, too. I never know where to stop with buildings, so I usually just don't take pictures of them. Nice shot.
