Description
These are my mother's Christmas cookies. The dough takes a long time to make and then the cut-outs take a while too, then you have to frost them; making these is like a week long precess, so she only makes them at Christmas. For me, as soon as she makes these cookies, it's officially Christmas.Let me explain these cookies: they're fantastic. Everything is made from scratch, including the frosting (which is also wonderful). These cookies are so good that no matter how close to Christmas we make them, they're always gone before Christmas Day. This year, we have over a dozen left, dare I even say we have more than twenty. This is a momentous day; that has never happened before. Never. Last year we had two left and that was because I hid them from everyone. Before this year, I think those two cookies were the record.
Now, everyone always says that cut-out sugar cookies are the easy way out, gingerbread is the way to go. No. Those people are wrong. These cookies are like God and I don't care what anyone says, they're the best cookies in the world.
So, the point of the story: all the love and care and work that gets put into these cookies, that's what Christmas means to me. Material, yes, but still full of love and work and meaning.

Wow those look delicious! I'm jealous.
BTW, I came to the conclusion that when you visit at school I'll supply you with an unlimited visit from the good Doctor!

Yeah, they are delicious. But I don't think I can make them last until NU. You'll just have to do with the German Christmas cookies that I smuggled home in my carry on.
Ah yes, a visit from the Doctor is always good. I'm so glad that I have a fellow Dr. Pepper fanatic. While I was in Germany, everyone was starting to think I was a bit nuts....

No, you're not nuts. Dr. Pepper is amazing!! They're the ones who are nuts... mostly cause they haven't probably experienced it yet! Ha ha.
And I think we'll suffice with the smuggled German cookies just fine. BTW, don't know if Andrea mentioned this to you or not, but you're more than welcome to move in early and stay with us for a bit until school officially starts if you like.

Oh that would be so cool! But I don't think all my stuff will fit into your apartment. And I still don't know where I'm living yet... yeah, a lot of kinks to work out still.

Oh well maybe you should figure that out first. But just know you're more than welcome to!
