Description I think I'm developing a thing for old German doors. Every one we walk by is so painstakingly carved and just so beautiful, I almost can't believe it.

I think this was a door off of a museum of some sort, but I can't be sure. I only took a picture of it because as we were walking by, I thought "hey, that's a nice door." Such is the complexity of my thought process.

And I remember something in Renaissance Art History that similar looking doors in Italy for chapels held contests for those carved square bits. Makes me wonder if Germany did the same thing at one point?

Well, if this is from the building that I think it's from, then the architect was Italian. He brought all of his workers straight up from Italy to finish building an entire square of very important, very impressive buildings. The eagle, however, is very German.

Cultural influences for the win! And yes, that I wouldn't put as Italian for anything in the world. So very German in all ways.
