This is my friend from high school, Tobias. He's currently in the opera program at Juilliard. I decided that I wanted to change the dismal balance of my bank account by taking headshots for the theater majors at my school, and I asked him if he would like to exchange a new set of free headshots for helping me build a portfolio to show potential clients. Thankfully, he had time to meet with me and I got some great shots.I also met with another friend a few days earlier to take some other headshots to build the same portfolio. I had fewer good shots with her because just as she arrived to take photos, the sun disappeared and the sky was very overcast, so that made me sad. But Tobias' shots came out very well, and I'm happy about that.

For some odd reason, I don't really care for this one, I think it's the way or how his arm is positioned. It just doesn't look all that natural to me and a tad uncomfortable.

I think you just summed up theater: posed and unnatural.
It was kind of weird for me too. The thing about headshots is that they're not typical portraits where every element makes it better or worse; it's all about the face. Anything that draws attention to the face is a good thing, so the arm guiding the eye to the face is the best thing. It's weird, but I guess I get it.

Thanks. And I never figured headshots would be my thing either (not enough art in it) but if I can get paid to do this, money is money.

Heck yeah! I got my first commission about a couple of months ago and was so incredibly thrilled even though it was a small one
