Very very close to what it look like. I have this condition since last year, it was terrible when it began, I basically lost my night vision (it used to be excellent before). Thankfully, it has gotten much better this year. The scarier part for me is the fact that it's a neurological condition and not the eyes.

I've been living with this my entire life as far as I can remember. Progressive until my early twenties, has been relatively stable since (but never has gotten any better. I'm 26 now).
Since I've lived with it all my life it's not that scary (I though it was completely normal until I was 16 years old). But it's still really annoying and tiring at times. The depersonalisation/derealisation, brainfog and chronic depression associated with it is what gets me though.

It was pretty intense when it began (I was 28 at the time), I remember looking at every object that was of black color and thinking "it....doesn't look right, it should be darker". I was also extremely photosensitive for the first few days to the point that even watching tv at a distance hurts. It was like that for about a month, then the snow toned down (but never leave) and remained stable to this day. There are times when it increases again, mostly when I'm ill and have high fever. I think the most frustrating part is the fact that we see it even with our eyes closed, as in, we can't never have a break from it. I also experienced depersonalisation/derealisation along with mild to moderate depresion for several months.
I got used to it. Thankfully, it's stable as I mentioned before, and I don't have the many other symptoms other people with this condition reports, like floaters, palinopsia or afterimages. I'm lucky I only see the static, but even so, there are moments when I really wish I could see like I used to, if only for a short time.
(Sorry for late reply, I haven't checked my account that much lately)

Wow! That's the first visualisation of the visual snow so close to what I'm seeing!
Thank you!

thanks! it's not easy to make a good representation of what VS looks like (and it's probably experienced differently depending on the individual). So it's nice to hear you find it recognizable
