--Sold!--It seems everyone has been bitten by the Flutterbat! She really does have a great design to her, so I just had to make her. I don't think I've ever been so feverishly inspired to work on a plush before. This is definitely the fastest I've ever made a plush--four days, from start to finish. It helped that I already had an existing Fluttershy pattern.
It was certainly frenetic at times, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't darn proud of the end result. Flutterbat is make entirely of minky. Her wings contain wire in them and are poseable. She stands 16 inches tall and is 27 inches long.

A mass produced plush like a build a bear that uses cheaper fabric and isn't hand made (yet alone customized) can be anywhere from $25-60+.
On the other hand, for these custom plushies he uses Minky fabric which costs about $13 a yard plus shipping, he hand sews and designs everything on the plush, designs the entire plush for a single person, designs and embroiders the cutie mark and eyes for the plush, sews it all together, and might run through several drafts before designing it perfectly. All of that extra effort and care is expensive, but for someone who is looking for something unique that they can't get in a store, looking for something that's higher quality than a mass produced plush, or just looking for something that's a hand made piece of art on top of being a plush, it's absolutely worth it.
Besides, it's only outrageous if nobody buys it... oil paintings can go for millions of dollars, which might be outrageous to some people and a bargain for others. Point being, just because you wouldn't buy something for $250 doesn't mean Peruserofpieces is being outrageous for selling it at that or that the buyer is being frivolous for paying it.
But like LittleNespa said, there are tons of patterns out there so if you do want a plush but can't afford it, you can always make it yourself. You might even find out you're good at it and start selling them yourself

Not really. By the time you figure in cost of materials and the amount of hours it takes to create a plush like this, $250 is actually pretty cheap.

Now that I have one, I can say with authority that your plushies look even bigger and better in person. I still feel like the photos don't do them justice. Anyway, I think everything looks great! I'm sure someone will be very happy to have her, as long as they keep an ample supply of fruit on hand
