Description In her dream Gabriella was tingling all over. It was as if there were tiny bubbles being made inside her, by the millions, the billions, these bubbles sizzling up into her skin and bursting, making her feel that she was more than just alive, that she was singing through every pore of her body. And then an even funnier feeling came over her, into her back and across her shoulders, and she was screaming with the pain of what was going on, and what was going on was that enormous wings were sprouting out of her. Huge in diameter, creamy in colour, feathers long and perfectly formed, flicking, twitching, wanting to take to the air and ride the warm currents over our sleepy city of Brisbane, And a great bubble burst in her belly and the bubble in her belly was a baby, and she swept across the fat face of the moon cradling her child, whose skin was smooth and creamy and not freckled and pink like hers, and the baby's skin was creamiest at the shoulders and shoulder-blades, which were hardly blades at all but soft and tiny mounds of creamy flesh, and there were no wings there and no promise that there ever would be.
