Artificial Evolution is a classic topic of artificial life.I am interested in understanding the principles of biological evolution; in the spirit of the synthetic methodology, the understanding of biological phonomena can be greatly enhanced by trying to mimic or model aspects of the biological system..
Evolution has worked pretty well for biological systems, so why not apply it to the systems that control robots?
Evolutionary computing has been tapped to produce coherent robot behavior in simulation, and real robots have been used to evolve simple behavior like moving toward light sources and avoiding objects. As technology advances who knows what we will see...maybe this image is a reference to the future...complete artificial life....a life that has evolved.
In a collaboration with `pixelcatalyst this is what we present, concepts surrounding this area..it truly is fasinating, who knows what the future holds. Im pleased how it turned out, damn that crazy 2d took me a while...I guess you could say this piece was to celebrate 100k pageviews, it was also released in the latest depthcore pack 'evolution'..
Oh and yes i know this has been ripped 100's of times, and people keep claiming it as theirs or a 'render' but no..pixelcatalyst is the main creator of the model and i did the other work. If you see it elsewhere just note me or pixelcatalyst, cheers..

It seems to me that we as a race have already accomplished this.
No longer subjected to the vast majority of eviromental factors our evolution has stopped so to speak. Now we simply augment ourselves with vaccines, glasses, gene therapy, etc. The only choice we have left is mental evolution which is closely linked imo to the self evolution of computer software. We make changes to our thought process, ideas, and beliefs based on what is around us. Wich is the same way we make choices and decisions. Intelligence. Artificial intelligence. Maybe make that simple algorythm an exponential algorythm based off of the human thought process

Evaluate list of needs = priority task

Evaluate list of possible means of completion = Method of completion

enviromental factors + remaining associated directives = variance outcome

iteration 1 +means of Variance+selection pressure = iteration 2
As humans we run process 1- 4 as constant sub routines and run process 5 everytime we actuslly do something, whenever a new task is added to our list of directives we run process 6 to change process 7 accordingly. It's 7:30 am here and i haven't slept so this could just be alot of gobledygook but i hope i am making sense.
Now i guess this could be the basic pattern for an A.I. if you manually programed the recognition for all enviromental factors and a priority ranking sytem into ROM.
but isn't that what we do as humans anyways. Most of what we base our decisions and choices off of is taught, not learned, like the colors, what we "need", our morals, what we should do and in what order when a multitude of things should be done.
So you could almost say we are actually A.I. ourselves, or maybe we have a collective memory in our subconcious from which we develop our knowledge and thought processes, considering what we are and have achieved as a race comparedto where we started as homosapien.
So whats the diffrence between A.I. and just I.
An all powerful being made the I. and an all powerful race made the A.I.?

This the kind of thing that makes my jaw drop and my work look shoddy in comparison, even though I do starkly different stuff.
The body really is the main focus...while the background is very pretty and reminds me of Desktop Imperium, the 3D modeling on the body is what makes it shine. +fav...I think you get a watch too

ok first off im not a good artist so this is so so so so so amazing to anything i could create and i <3 it but i have one bitch. The figure is completely being seen from one side, the head, the body, are all at a flat side view EXCEPT for one thing and thats her left tit.
haha i know you're a guy so like...i should understand but for me it really throws off the flow of the picture as to why the body is shown directly from the side however her boob is shown as if the body were tilted 25 degrees or so

It's interesting of you to say that A.I. can't evolve. Adaptation is part of evolution. Adapt in order to acheive an equilibrium with your environment. This is something that A.I. researchers have been working on with great success. That said evolution also encompasses thought. Without evolution of thought and conceptual ability there is no way to evolve for a machine. Either way this piece is fucking brilliant.
