Description The subject of the weather has long shaped the content of everyday conversation. The eighteenth-century writer Samuel Johnson famously remarked ‘It is commonly observed, that when two Englishmen meet, their first talk is of the weather; they are in haste to tell each other, what each must already know, that it is hot or cold, bright or cloudy, windy or calm.

Representations of the sun and sky dominate the expanse of the Turbine Hall. A fine mist permeates the space, as if creeping in from the environment outside. Throughout the day, the mist accumulates into faint, cloud-like formations, before dissipating across the space. A glance overhead, to see where the mist might escape, reveals that the ceiling of the Turbine Hall has disappeared, replaced by a reflection of the space below. At the far end of the hall is a giant semi-circular form made up of hundreds of mono-frequency lamps. The arc repeated in the mirror overhead produces a sphere of dazzling radiance linking the real space with the reflection.

I can't believe i missed this,
Aparently they took it down because it was giving out radiation, which is never a great thing. Still i've seen some amazing pictures taken from there by other people.

I was at the Tate during this exhibition. I sat there under the sun for a couple of hours.
Outside there was rain & clouds, which I love. The extreme contrast between
the weather just outside and the dazzling, desert haze of The Weather Project was physically striking.

Interesting work, to me, I see in it a result of what life in a city is: poeple are so busy, never stops. and meanwhile the sun goes down silently, shinning some more in a vain attempt to make us stop for a second and look at it. maybe to remind us that we exist for more than just merely working and paying rent.

This is a great photo, with the sunlight reflections, and I love how it radiates over the building's structure. In addition, it looks like, the representation of daily life; it's lovely.

Nice capture. I actually like how the image is flooding with warm color. Without it...I think the mist wouldn't translate.

All the sight lines in the composition lead the eye from the reflection in the floor right to the sun. I love it! Great job!

I'm probably seeing this kind of late, but I feel the need to comment on it. The lighting in that area and how you fit everything in one shot really works very well together. I love this picture, and the fact that there are no manipulations and nothing was altered, makes it all the more awesome.

You're really good at what you do.

Bravo.

glad you like london. its an amazing city and the tate modern is a great example of what redevelopment of amazing buildings can achieve. pity you didnt go in, not for the art, but there is a great place to sit on leather sofas in the middle of the building bout half way up and see a wonderful view!
