Nice, it captures the idea nicely.
A sepia tone, IMO, might be a little strongish? Maybe a slight warmtone would be good, though.

I like the idea of using black and white to get this sort of effect; but had you considered perhaps desaturating it most of the way instead, or perhaps running a sepia filter over it?
