Description
I placed numbers on ones that either were hard to find, or if the reader didn't know what any of those were. Allow me to elaborate on some.Edit 5/20/2023: I added more languages, specifically the English creoles in the Leeward Antilles.
1. Sierra Leone's original government survives solely within the Freetown Peninsula. In it's own language, the country is called Sarelone, and the language Sarelonian. Sierra Leonese, or simply Leonese rather erroneously, is how it's more officially referred to in English.
2. Wourish is a standardized language derived from Cameroon English creole, and the political movements which cemented it's use within the Guinean Empire started with fringe militant groups based around the old Biafra and Ambazonia, bridging off of the Anglophone Crisis which had been ongoing prior to the global economic collapse. Named for the Wouri River upon which most of Ambazonia resides. Ambazonia is simply the name of some of the northern regions of the Wourish province that exists within Guinea. the Wourish and Fang are considered the two primary ethnic groups of the empire, and their languages are considered the most official and practiced.
3. Papiamentu is the official language of the old Dutch Leeward Antilles, although in 2110 the local polity is known as the Curacao Federation. It is considered a daughter language of Portuguese, but is also heavily influenced by Dutch and Spanish due to proximity with Venezuela, and prior ownership by the Dutch.
4. Kouri-Vini is a colloquial name for Louisiana Creole, derived from the French words meaning 'to run' and 'to come', implying that people came-and-went often from the mouth of the Mississippi due to prominent trade, during the late colonial era. It has an important significance in these regions, but is not considered official in any regard, in favor of Acadian French, Kingsland English, or Haitian.
5. In my personal experience, not many people know Reunion Island exists, so I just gave a little pointer on the map as to where it was. Reunion won independence from France while France was scrambling to maintain neocolonial corporate monopolies in western Africa, as the entire continent went to hell, and was sort of never threatened with re-integration and pretty much forgotten, from a diplomatic standpoint, which left the island and much of the Indian Ocean to their own devices.
