Description
This is an oil painting from a photographer's self portrait (Santina). I found it on Deviantart and asked her permission to use the image. It was such an enigmatic look... not sure if she was sad, thoughtful, lonely or amused. Her expression had me captivated for ages.The original photograph: [link]

Just wow, and I feel the same. I cant put my finger on what she is feeling. Its so intriguing.

But then on clicking enlarge you get the full gravity of the piece! The detail, down to the ridges for the tip of the thumb (the print of it) is amazing! And then theres the eyes - they look as though underwater. Paintings are so few and far between that have the power to completely immerse you in their world.
