Description this is not your fault.
six days spent toiling on your grand masterpiece
and you rested on the seventh day
declaring everything was good

and it was.

man and woman within the garden.
they called it paradise
even if it sometimes strikes those of us
who never saw paradise
as something of a fairy tale.
but you declared everything good

because it was.

shoulders bear the brunt of what followed.
of indiscretions and covert plans made;
innocence bartered for knowledge.
it always seems to have a price
to know something and wish to know more.
if only we had seen this vain pursuit

for what it was.

mental masturbation; the rape of naivete.
did not end then and does not end today
for everything i know comes at a price
at the expense of something lost for something gained
innocence bartered for knowledge;
such as seeing everything

for what it really is.

this is not your fault.
we seem to have these discussions often; you and i.
where i tell you what it is not and
take it back within the very next breath
by asking you why the world acts

the way it does.

i once knew how to trust
somewhere in some fairy tale land that
resembles paradise the more i think of it.
but in growing wise, i have lost my innocence
gaining knowledge; gaining truth
now seeing life and reality; now seeing wisdom

for the farce it is.

when did i barter with the serpent?
and does he issue a refund?

This does indeed have some truth to it. One can not know how the world really is until they've experianced the full of it, and they are not the same after.

I like it. Makes ya' think. The ending is the best part, and it's kind of humorous in its own way.

innocence bartered for knowledge
Sadly, this goes on a little too much in this world

makes me think of this

"he's got the pages in his pockets that he ripped out of the bible from his bedstand in the motel. he likes the part where the traders get chased out from the temple. i guess i heard about original sin. i heard the dude blamed the chick. i heard the chick blamed the snake. i heard they were naked when they got busted. i heard things ain't been the same since. you on the streets with a tendency to preach to the choir. wired for sound and down with whatever. i heard gideon did you in denver."

and that's a good thing
well done

xo!

Thought-provoking. it's funny, I've been thinking about these things today, too.
