Description another desolate winter morning.
gray skies have not held color in some time.
cold winds blow to snatch
one’s breath away,
stealing more than just the warmth from the air.
stealing more than just the comfort from a soul.

one solitary snowflake hits the ground.

the trees devoid of leaves.
the parks devoid of people, they all
retreated inward to the fires,
to the arms of lovers waiting for them.
fortunate fools who have a lover.
fortunate fools who never have to be alone.

one solitary snowflake hits the ground.

seasons never meant to carry on
for months bleeding into years,
for extended points in time, and yet,
here i am, once again, alone.
sometimes i sense my heart about to falter.
sometimes i sense my life about to slip into the abyss

no man was meant to be an island.

yet one solitary snowflake hits the ground.

I like the comparison. How unusual it is to see a single snowflake, and how lonely we feel as people when we don't have a companion. Even snowflakes tend to travel in groups.

loneliness is never a happy thing. it's very, very painful. :\
you captured the emotion beautifully, peter. a job extremely well done - but that's an understatement.

The loneliness is felt very much and the disillusionment is palpable. It communicates very well the intent for which it was penned. I can relate to those words. Not to the extreme point it can reach but enough to feel it lurking around the bend and the growing awareness that I can't ignore it either. Thank heavens that I have the common sense of getting out and being with friends even though initially apathy is too present. Beautiful piece!

Very sad {yet, i love snow ^^}
It really does have that grand affect
when reading it. The final lines have such an impact

i enjoy snow as well
in small doses.
seemed to capture
the sentiment of loneliness
in my mind, however.

Small doses just seems too small.
I wish for streets filled with snow.
So full that cars are stranded
and people have to stay home.

Hm. I suppose it could mean loneliness.
Nonetheless, it was a beautiful poem.

ah yes, streets filled with snow
means one can
stay home from school.

thank you, dear.
