Description
far be it for meto question the cosmos
to inquire upon matters
much larger than i
far be it for me
to cast aspersions upon
the will of the fates
the intricate plans
of beings higher than i
far be it for me
to challenge your wisdom
to debate your intellect
to risk any offense
far be it for me
to ask for more
than i've been given
than i truly deserve
from your hand
far be it for me
to ask why things
must be the way
that they are.
still. . .
i must issue the question
just the same.
how long will it take
for the stars to emerge;
for there to be some
alignment
within our worlds
once again?
how long until i see you
in more than my dreams
and hold more than the embers
of you
next to me?
how long until we
are more than two lovers
separated by distance
separated by moments
we've been unable to share.
far be it for me
to intrude upon heaven
while the bed that i lie upon
remains cold without you.
i wake from the vision
of you lying beside me
of your smile infecting me
with a grin in return.
of your delicate kisses
placed upon greedy lips
that have gone far too long
without kissing you back.
far be it for me,
but the touch of your hand
upon my skin
is still far too fresh
the embers of your presence
still burn in your wake
i still reside in
sensations
of you and i
making love
i can still feel your body
pressed against mine once more.
i can still see your lips
parted with frantic breaths.
i can still hear the way
those lips say my name
and feel the warmth from them
as you tell me
you love me.
and feel the warmth
of your happiness
as i tell you the same.
far be it for me
to ask.
but remember,
the heart only knows
the things that it lacks
the heart only wishes
to be whole once again.
the man only loves you
and longs to be near you
the tempest just longs
to be stilled
at long last.
far be it for me
to be discontented
with heaven.
i still must ask you
how long
just the same.

Seemed a tiny bit hopeful, too. One typo that I noticed: "to me discontented
with heaven." I think you meant "to BE discontented..."

Clumsy fingers. Thank you, Denise.
Hopeful, indeed. A solemn, subdued hope, but hope does exist far more than it once had.
